So a question to you, Dunc, Mark and the rest of BMS Dev’s:
Why are y’all set on “Closing” Third Party Development in BMS???
That is where the best of the best came from for Y’all in the past……don’t “GET IT”…sigh!Just asking a question,

No not a thread, but locking out Third Party Development by changing the CODE and the Tools used to develop in the SIM so that they are only available to Team Members…at least that is the “Rumor” I have heard too many times as of late.
Any truth to that M8???

No not a thread, but locking out
Nothing is locked and nothing will be locked. Just have to be redone in some cases (same problem applies to the BMS team itself)…
… by changing the CODE and the Tools
… And how do you think we can move forward? When adding “a value” in the database that curent tools doesn’t read/save, obviously, the tools need to be updated to advance at the same time than the core software. Retro compatibility is not always possible unfortunately (F4Browse replaced by BMS Editor for instance, no choice since nobody has the source code of F4Browse which would be greatly appreciated to retrieve the “recalculate” algorithm).
Any truth to that M8???
Tools a being developed, but as for BMS itself, releases might only happens once debugged and “full” ready (mainly BMS Editor, Mission Commander, 3DDB Builder) … there are few other but they are only “formatting tools” and are absolutely not necessary/needed for 3dr party Dev (example, the Flight Model Manager used to tidy the aircraft.dat files prior to release … but as said, it doesn’t prevent any 3rd party actions.)
And there is no point to release any tools that are not compatible with your curent public version anyway.
Finally, anybody can create tools … and is welcome => Mortesil, Ahmed, Obi1, Monster, Roccio, Tyrant … etc …
The entire community contribute to the BMS effort, not only the “team” which is just “an organized” part of this community.

Thanks M8……for debunking the Rumor
