I printed all of the 4.33 manuals printed through lulu, do I need to do it for 4.34?
-
First, thank you so much for 4.34, I just tried it, and its just awesome.
As for the manuals, I printed all of the manuals through lulu several years ago. I am still a newbie, life got busy, I can fly and shoot down AI planes a bit, but I have a LOT to learn still, and this summer I was hoping to really get back into this game. So with having all of the 4.33 manuals, should I look to print out all of them again in 4.34 version (which will be around $300, and something I will definitely have to wait on) or is there just a few of the manuals that I should reprint?
-
OMG….why not just save them as pdf to your desktop? 80% is the same but a BIG 20% is new/.34…lots of awesome changes
-
I guess I can do that, I just didn’t know if it was worth getting all of them printed if there were so many changes.

Well you certainly can; I did that after.33 but soon regretted it given the cost. But if you’re a hardback book lover like I am and have the $$, it’s a nice Falcon mini library to own for sure!
-
Sounds good, can I borrow $300?:D
Seriously, can you point out like what chapters have changed or whatever for a complete newbie like me? I see that they finished the training manual, but for just reading up on things on my couch or whatever, am I pretty good to just stick with the 4.33 manuals and then look at 4.34 pdfs as I get more advanced?

Hmmm…ever fly with humans? You can join a VFW like ours or other and learn pretty much 99% of what the sim has to offer…over time. Or spend the next decade in single player getting to that level.

Look through the manuals. New and/or changed text is neatly marked with a vertical black line in the left margin. (not sure, but exception may be completely new chapters)
Then you can decide for yourself if it is worth printing. For 300 dollars, you can pick up a nice tablet to have alongside you when flying
-
The black lines are only in the dash 1 & training
I’m sorry for the price tag, I looked at getting cheaper alternative (for the same quality) but all the local ways provided to be even more expensive and less convenient for a worldwide distribution
Here are some hints that may help you select them:
- The technical manual is new but isn’t really needed printed,
- Naval ops is new as well but only needed if you want to fly from the carrier
- Nav and Comms is a new volume and probably the most useful of the three new volumes
The dash1, dash-34, training, manual & AIP have been updated at different level.
It’s hard to tell why because there are a lot of detail changed in the old chapters.-
Dash 1 new chapters are IFF and faults, but all the rest has been reviewed and adapted
-
Training has the new training misisons (Spice, AA intercept & aim-9, AA BVR & AIM-120, AA guns and HMCS, Harpoon), all the others have been updated with 4.34 specific details
-
Dash 34 has a new chapter on FCR and lots of minute details changed
-
BMS manual is less thick than before because all the tech info has been moved to tech manual. The view chapter has been simplified, and all annexes removed.
New chapters are the feature overview, install (but remains basically the same procedure), config, weather control, MP and artificial intelligence -
The AIP is more convenient to use on a tablet while flying through the interactive map
Even I didn’t get all of them because of the price tag I only got training, dash1 and comms and nav.
The rest I can do without. It’s your choice to get them printed or use the PDF. I personally enjoy touching quality papers
And Lulu always has some promotion going on.
The US more than the EU site. You often gets rebates or free shipping. Just wait a good rebate from them and select the ones you most likely want to have
The new PDF are there for you to compare if its worth or not. -
One tip, if you put the books in the cart, and then exit from the website and wait a bit, you will get a coupon for 15% off! So by doing that and not printing the AIP for now, the BMS manual, and the technical manual, its costing $152 before shipping and tax. However, there is currently an issue with Lulu’s check out system, which they are working on right now. (Maybe its God telling me to hold off on spending $150, but boy I do love those manuals!!!)
Red Dog, thanks for really breaking all of that down, it really helps.
