FLY-5 Throttle Issue
-
Hello!
I recently got back into BMS with my FLY5 but Ive discovered an issue with my throttles. I use one of the sliders (Stick has two) as the throttle, however, when Im in the cockpit, I push the throttle fully forward and it goes to 100% no problem, The issue is when it retard the throttle back to 0%. Upon retarding the throttle to 0%, the throttle will only close to about 75% even when the physical slider is at 0%.
Im very very new to all of this, coming from an FSX background, so any help would be appreciated!
I have downloaded the latest drivers, software and checked all of the dead-zones etc but still stumped!
Again, any help will be appreciated!
Regards,
Cameron

Idle throttle should be around 75% RPM. If it’s lower, you have an engine problem
BTW, if it’s not going past 100% into afterburner, you need to set the AB detent.

Sorry, should have been clearer. The throttle will not go back to Idle, it will only retard to 75% and no less even when the slider is at 0%! Im talking about the throttle itself, not the engine RPM.

piscies1995,
As WolfKeeper posted, I do not see any problems with your throttle if you are referring your RPM as the reference. RPM at 75% seems normal at idle.
RPM at Mil ( before after burner) and above should be at around 100%Geek talk;
RL RPM depends on the engine and other factors. So idle RPM should be 62-80% (GE-100) 65-77% (PW-229) 60-76% (PW-220). Mil and above RPM is not set and only the max allowed RPM is mention. 96% (220), 97% (229) and 106% (100) -
Right I’m going to back right up and go from the start!
I believe there is an issue with either my Joystick, Drivers, or BMS not liking my stick!
I always start my games with my throttle fully aft (0%). I then run though checks etc to ensure everything is good. When I move the throttle to its fully forward position (100%) there is no issue! HOWEVER, when I move the throttle on the stick to its fully aft position, the simulated throttle in the cockpit will only go back to 70 odd percent which won’t allow me to start the aircraft from the ramp. The software won’t detect that I have moved the physical throttle slider to the fully aft position and this is the issue to why I am posting here. It also does the same when i’m starting in the air.
I did not mention any reference to engine RPM In my first post so I’m failing to understand why this is being mentioned? If need be I can post screenshots to help try and give a more clearer picture if need be?

Sorry, did not see your second post when I posted.

No worries at all! Just getting frustrated as I’ve been working on this for 5 hours solid trying to get it to work, just want it to work! :L

Can you move the throttle back with the keyboard? Trying to isolate the problem.
-
Nope the throttle is only controlled by the joystick
-
I asked because in BMS for me I can control the throttle with the + and - key and the joy stick, so I wonder if there is something else besides your joy stick causing the problem
-
its kind of like a deadzone getting in the way but its not at the same time. I changed the key map to the keyboard and it works with those if that helps?
-
I will keep trying to see if I can figure it out. Hopefully, one of the guys that use your same controller might have some insight.
-
Does it do the same in the Setup page within BMS?
-
The throttle seams fine in the setup area but its when I get in game it just dosnt want to have any of it!
-
Ok ive made some progress! I switched the controller to keyboard and mapped the throttle to the binding and it worked! Now that we know that the throttle works, is their any way of getting the controller to work by selecting the stick instead of the keyboard if you understand what i’m saying?
-
I wonder if there is a program interfering with BMS reading the throttle. Do you use any programs with the joystick? Not sure if your joystick comes with a a program.
-
It does. It uses the Mad Catz profiler just like the X52/(Pro), etc but it was doing the same thing before I even installed the profiling software. Drivers are up to date as far as I’m aware. Il double check once I’m home in a few hours!
-
Yeah all drivers and software is up to date! Really not sure what to do to sort this. Considering uninstalling and then reinstalling Falcon and BMS completely to see if that helps the cause!
-
Ok guys. I removed the profiler and reinstalled BMS with all the updates applied and my throttle is working perfectly fine now! My mate reckons it was a glitch in the installer with BMS as I tested my throttle with Falcon4 standalone. Anyways, thanks to all of the guys who attempted to help me rectify the issue!
