X52 3D printed Spring Tension Mod
-
As I own a 3D Printer I just designed and printed an easy-to-install “Spring Tension” mod for my X52
The 3D Model files are available on thingiverse

Does it make a lot of noise, compressing the spring, when you do the movements with the axes?

Indeed the first one I printed made some noise as the spring was scratching the holding ring. Made a second iteration with the inner diameter increased by 1mm and this one -> Nope no noise at all. Just the same as without. The only noise is comming from the lower plastic ring. Currently testing different grease solutions to have a) the stiffness from the increased spring tension but b) still very smooth movement.
At least the increased spring tension enabled me after 3 days of no joy with getting back into AAR to connect to tanker on 2nd try with the mod installed. In addition I added 4 10x5mm Magnets to the y Axis and 2 Magnets to the x Axis
