Try deleting “dx9display.dsp” that is in Falcon BMS 4.34\User\Config
I did not look at your crash dump since I have no idea how to read it but the same happened to me, and that is how I solved it 🙂

I’m having this very same problem. Launcher.exe works fine, but when I click the Launch button, the initial splash screen appears and the sim just freezes there. Task Manager indicates “FalconBMS.exe” as “not responding”, with RAM usage at 250~300 MB, no CPU or Disk usage for its task. Windows does not return me the “Falcon BMS has stopped working” window. It just freezes ang goes nowhere.

I’ve tried reinstalling the BMS 4.34, no luck. There’s no dx9display.dsp anywhere on the folders.
I have no idea where I can get the Crash Log file to post here…
Also, I haven’t played BMS in quite a while, but having Eagle Dynamics just released its DCS F-16 Viper Module, it made me want to go back in the BMS for a warm up. For no joy. I was able to play the 4.34 before that, so I haven’t messed with the Installation folders structure ever since.

            PC Specs:
            CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700 @ 3.6 GHz
            RAM: 2x 8 GB HyperX Fury DDR4 @ 2666 MHz
            Graphics Card: Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 480 8 GB @ 1342 MHz
Storage: 120 GB Sata3 SSD For Operating System and basic drivers/programs/funcionalities; Game installed in a 1 TB HDD
            Motherboard: ASUS Prime B350-Plus
PSU: 750 Watt OCZ Fty semi-modular power supply

Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit, updated to last version (I’m suspicious it might have something to do with the windows update, as I’ve had other strange issues with other applications recently).

This is very strange. As if it removed or renamed Falcon writes a fresh copy with “basic” details.

Have you gone through your setup pages and set things to your liking ??

AND did Falcon remember those choices ???

Guys, I am now able to workaround this problem by repeatedly pressing Esc, Space and Enter keys on the keyboard during the first loading screen. Not exactly specific keys, just keys that would be used to skip the intro “cutscene”. Even if you have un-checked the “Play Intro Movie” in the Config Menu.

As soon as I click the “Launch” button on the launcher menu, while the first loading screens, with all the Developers credits appears on windowed mode in front of my Desktop screen, just keep pressing commom “skip this” keys until the simulator advances to the main menu screen and that works for me everytime. You could try that and see if it works for you as well. 😄

                    I have the same bug… I am on windows 10 Pro… Latest NVIDIA drivers… Gen 8 CPU…Gen 9 motherboard…3 screens… Only use one. Etc

I found that if I set the avionics to external displays… In the configuration tool… Hardware…I think… Currently not at the PC…

This opens a heap of avionics screens, which just sit in the background… Do not close them… Ever… It seems to break the fix.

                    Now it starts ok.

or use the Alternative Launcher…and select command line “Window”.

I have the same problem. There must be a connection with the windows update from the version 1704 to 18XX. Before, I had no problems. After a Windows reinstallation BMS runs again. After the update to 18XX or 1903 the same problem 😞 But blocking Windows updates to 18XX or later can only be a workaround.

                        “D:\Programme\Falcon BMS 4.34\Launcher.exe” -window

Editing the launcher fixed the issue

I have identical problem. Crashes when trying to enter a mission or instant action. Crash to desktop and a frozen bms logo page . Task manager shows programme not responding. Anyone had luck with this yet?

have you checked that “full screen optimization” hasn’t been re-enabled by chance?

                              Cheers, Uwe

Right clic on the shortcut, properties, advanced (I believe), unclick the option 🙂

Thx. Founded, but did not do the trick.

After launching the black screen with the credentials shows and then BMS closes on its own !!!???

                                      Frustrating

I did the trick with the window extraction (configuration), restarted the computer and launched BMS… it worked!

                                          Thanks again… I can fly again 😄

None of the other solutions here seem to work (well I haven’t tried the alternate launcher). What does your 10/6 edit refer to? What setup did you do? Strangely enough 4.33 still works for me. 4.34 is the version getting stuck at the splash screen.
