BMS F18 A and C upgrade - community involvement

Yes, yes, and yes.
F16 has nothing on the Hornet. Hornet is a heavy fighter by nature, whereas the Viper is weak and puny lady boy
-
well… normally I would say that they are both great fighters, each with a different design, for different tasks…
but then. nobody gets to call the Viper a weak and puny lady boy!!!guess we will have to see if you keep that attitude, or if it will end up -60 degrees inverted, as you dive for the deck…
-
Based on our flight testing experience so far I think you’ll find it comes down to each pilot knowing his jet’s capabilities and his oponents jet’s capability.
Don’t let your ego get you shot down. Some preliminary advice - don’t get dragged into a low and slow fight with the Hornet. If the Hornet pilot as average DF skills you’ll lose. Swallow your pride and re-engage. Same goes for Hornet drivers. Fight smart and be tactical Two Hornets can put a wall of AMRAAMs in the air as well.
The bug will add a new dynamic to the game that viper drivers will need to be aware of.

One thing i already know, putting that FM on the test including having F-18 pilots around will be fun

Guys are definitley going to have to spend 1 on one time learning the hornet airframe, just as in real life it has quirks that will make you go 'holy s**t how did that just happen ‘as you plummet to the ground leaf style’ but calling the viper ‘puny and weak’ compared to the hornet is a mistake theres going to be alot of guys that hop in the hornet thinking its a superior airframe and get their behinds handed to them by the seasoned viper guys. We learned very quickly when we tested the hornet in Bad boys PvP server that we had to develop completeley new operating procedures with the bug. But i will tell you right now, its gets out of dodge in a hurry when needed
PS……BD said he give you hugs later Moort
-
Please make something to avionics, even bit difrent than f-16 would be nice

Well said, but i hope Ventura doesnt read that. He LOVES the Hornet

as I had heard, if you added different MFD pages, they would also muck around with the F16 ones…
surely at least we would get a new HUD though.

I will never discuss anything related to code development for various reasons; besides its always great to surprise people on release day.
From my experience in BMS I would say never say this or that is never going to happen. BMS has highly skilled devs that seem willing to challenge the impossible. Look at the difference between OF and BMS; many things people use to say would never happen have happened. Improvements or additions to an additional aircraft would not happen over night. Additions or improvements to the viper don’t happen overnight.
However, my experience in BMS leads me to firmly believe the devs do not shy away from challenges and are very open to suggestions. These guys continue to amaze me with their skills and knowledge. I have never worked with a better group; paid or unpaid.
PS Everything I said applies to everyone in BMS except Moort; the oposite is true for him

There goes the neighborhood…

The neighborhood went once Moort and Nutty joined

be advised, Nutty actually thinks i am a maniac…. better watch yer step there from now on - i will phinix your asses from 200nm away in your stinky hornits!

so what? does it have the maneuverability, endurance / fuel to wage an effective fight in both of those fronts? if ability to carry munitions meant anything they would arm b-1s with slammers and use em as missile boats (i bet my hat on it at some point it must be considered for real)
That was in a book “Flight of the Old Dog” by Dale Brown
Set in November to December 1987 (December 1988 in Night of the Hawk), Flight of the Old Dog is the story of a secret highly modified B-52 bomber flying into Russia on an impromptu strike mission.
The book begins with a B-52 crew during a military exercise in Idaho. Not long after, the Americans discover the existence of a Soviet ground-based laser in the Kamchatka Peninsula. Although Moscow insists that the system does not violate existing strategic accords such as the ABM Treaty, their frequent use of the laser in striking vital US assets challenges Washington’s patience before the UN.
Meanwhile, Gen. Bradley Elliott, commander of the High Technology Aerospace Weapons Center (HAWC; also known as Dreamland), tests a unique B-52 bomber with the help of several young crewmembers. Called the EB-52 Megafortress (named Old Dog), the plane is being eyed as a new strategic escort for SAC forces. The technology tested in the plane is later adapted and fitted into two B-1 bombers that are sent to attack the Soviet laser after it destroys an American space defense satellite.
The B-1 mission is intercepted by the Soviets, but the aircraft are not shot down. At the same time, terrorists attack HAWC, forcing Elliott and the Old Dog crew to launch immediately. The crew push ahead with the B-1s’ mission after they realize that they are the only remaining hope for destroying the laser.
After faking a crash outside Seattle and forcing a KC-10 crew in Shemya to refuel them , the Old Dog enters Soviet airspace and engages PVO fighters before and after destroying the laser.
With a number of crew members injured, and the aircraft damaged and leaking fuel, the crew realize that they no longer have enough fuel to return safely to the United States. They set down at Anadyr, a little-used Russian airfield to steal enough fuel for their journey home. Surprised in the act of refueling by Soviet forces, one of the crew sacrifices himself to allow the plane to take off. Despite considerable damage to both crew and aircraft and a final attack by a Soviet fighter, the Old Dog is able to make it home safely.
The EB52 Megafortress carried Aim54s as well as heaps of other weapons. They even made a game for it lol.
Megafortress is a flight simulation video game developed by Artech Digital Entertainment and released by Three-Sixty Pacific Inc in 1991. The player takes command of the fictional EB-52 Megafortress created by the military and espionage novelist Dale Brown.
EB-52 Megafortress
Dale Brown has used various modified variants of the B-52 Stratofortress, which in reality is used by the United States Air Force as their heavy strategic bomber. These variants are usually referred to as the B-52 Megafortress. The Megafortress first appears in Dale Brown’s Flight of the Old Dog and is expanded and upgraded in all his later books. It has all the latest technology (such as an advanced on-board computer and detailed HUD) and carries all the latest weapons, such as the AIM-7 Sparrow, AIM-9 Sidewinder, AIM-120 AMRAAM, along with various anti-ship missiles, anti-tank guided missiles and even more fanciful weapons such as plasma-yield warheads. It also uses an advanced layout, having a long SST nose, stealth, and twin V-type tails. In later books, the eight engines of the B-52A-H are replaced by four larger and more powerful turbofans. Coincidentally, this is an upgrade that has been considered for the real-world B-52H fleet.[citation needed]
In Flight of the Old Dog, the first book in the series, the aircraft is designated the B-52I Megafortress. B-52M Megafortress Plus is later introduced in Day of the Cheetah and the EB-52 designation is first used in Sky Masters. In reality, the EB-52H (or B-52J) was a planned upgrade to the USAF’s current fleet of Stratofortresses, allowing them to act as “stand-off jammers”, with jamming pods replacing the B-52’s wing-mounted external fuel tanks.
One final version, the AL-52 Dragon, was introduced in Wings of Fire. The Dragon is an airborne laser platform; the actual laser is a chemical system (a COIL, or chlorine-oxygen-iodine laser). One prototype, however, is refitted with a plasma-pumped solid-state laser (the technology is based on the plasma-yield warheads mentioned above). Both Dragon variants are devastating against aerial targets; however, the plasma-pumped laser’s sheer power makes it effective against surface targets as well. Later on in the series, the plasma-pumped solid state laser replaces the COIL laser on all standard AL-52’s.
Not a bad series of books.

A few ideas you guys may want vLSO, you could ask FSXNAVYPILOT maybe he could make a BMS version. As for sound fx maybe you might want to ask zzzspace as hes done some really good mods for DCS World. He has some very good Hornet sound fx.

@Moort: They plan on arming B-2s with AIM-120s. Didn’t you watch that doco on u-tube?

this one shows the proposed B1R. not sure if its the same one Benchie is referring to.
you have to watch it for a bit, its about a half hour in? -

you have to watch it for a bit, its about a half hour in?come on man, that’s as entertaining as red flag fighter pilot… i even remember watching p51 or somesuch plane declared as the best fighter airplane in one of those 1vision channel top ten countdowns.

I disagree with some of what was stated in the video, but I have seen a lot worse.
