Headtrackers without external References
-
Hey Track-friends!
Some time ago I started with the build of my homecockpit and with that, I had to search for an alternative for headtracking,
as the TIR5 I used to that point wouldn´t work with my setup anymore. As far as that goes, I actually can´t use any headtracker,
which needs an external reference to recognize, where I´m looking. Thats because, I have a 216° FOV Screen and no trackingdevice
with external reference like a camera can cover that much angle of headmovement. So, I bought a EDTracker Wireless pro, because I thought, that would be state of the art… well that´s what I really thought back then.
It simply never worked like intended and I always have had issues with this device. I tried everything I could imagine and searched the net
for days to find solutions to my problems, which I will not discuss here, cause that´s not the point of the post.
Long story short, I wasn´t able to come by the problems I still have and the company, which sold the EDTracker is no longer alive,
website down, emails don´t get through etc. That´s why I´m posting here.
I want to find a RELIABLE headtracker, which is not dependent on any external source (except it could cover 360° of headmovement and doesn´t need to be mounted in my cockpit, as there is none in the real jet).
It doesn´t need to be wireless, but in a perfect world, it´d fit into a flighthelmet.
Every VR-Device has excellent headtracking, so I was wondering, if there are some unknown solutions, at least unknown to me, which could
cover my needs. What are you guys using? I appreciate any input with any tips for a new solution for my setup.
Thanks guys!

Wired, bluetooth or wifi version, 3 or 5 DOF.
Now using 6050+gy-723 (earlier GY-85). Tried 4 different 9250 but didn’t get a normal view. There is a connector for connecting the neck module, but not connected, use fake offsets -
I’ve not well understood if EDTracker wired (USB) could be a suitable alternative for you.
I’m still using my EDtracked Pro Micro MPU-9250, which is perfectly working for my needs.Maybe that you already know but It seems to be available at:
