Test low-poly toys in BMS4..

Ummm… Doesn’t the pilot seem a little out of proportion to the rest of the plane, to you?
-
it’s a small plane.
Actually i’ve slightly scaled up the whole ac to make the pilot look smaller. -
Hi Master ccctw
I would need an advice to learn to use your low polys and lods :
For the 1st time I created a wingview model based on one of your lod (namely, the C-212) , to do a C-160 of my own .
It worked and it’s not bad , but I don’t know how :
- to make the the wings appear a bit backward
- A little bit lower
The question behind this is which values should I tweak in my wingview lod ?
Is it possible to , for example , put the wings backward without touching the tail (who’s currently well placed in a pilot P.O.V ) . In other words : Can I change the proportion of the lod , or should it be considered as a whole thing , untouchable ? -
use lodeditor to open your lod > tools > model-move > key-in the values to move your pilot’s eye location to zero point.
-
ok, I’ll try this . Here are pictures of my W.I.P C-160.
I haven’t replaced the texture yet so don’t be surprised , I’ll finish after the repositionning of the wingview lod .
-
Ooops
thanks ccctw , it’s working good but I must have missed smg
Don’t know why but during the process I inverted the propeller ?!?
I set the pov from “0” to "-4 " , only for the X column . Didn’t touched anything else .
What happened ?
-EDIT : All right , I understood …. Apparently , the airframe and the propellers seems to be 2 distinct things in the lods …
As I now understood how to move the airframe , I need now to figure out how to move the propellers only … Am I right ?
-
the two propeller parts are under XDOF40. under XDOF, there’re four subtree nodes. doublt click on subtree node to edit/move x y z values.
if you move ac -19,2,0, then for each subtree node move them back 19. -2, 0.
it’s a LE bug.

Many many thanks, ccctw …
Althought I think I will retry from start to do it from a clean wingview model : I managed to replace the propeller nearly perfectly but as I was learning, some elements were slightly misplaced and I’m unable to recenter them back , my wingview lod is now quite a mess ; I’ll redo it and now that I know how to move it will be all right
-EDIT : Do you know if there’s a way to delete entire XDOF , instead of deleting the CP one by one as I’m currently doing … Maybe I would try to create a wingview from the real C-160 LOD , but if I must erase each CP I don’t need (and there’ll be a lot ), it will take me ages … -

Makin’ some progress ….
Thanks again, ccctw !!!

Hi again, Ô ccctw
There’s smg I need to ask about the “cockpit wingmodel” line of every pit in the ckptart folder .
Each time one need to retrofit a plane , one has to add a folder in Ckptart named from the parent number . In each folder one can find a 3dckpit file . Then , by assigning a new “cockpitwingmodel number” from the number of the parent file created for your LOD , one can add your wingview .
But , I have a problem : for the 1st time , I encountered an aircraft without the cockpitwingmodl line in its ckptart file …
It’s the AV-8 . Thus , I can’t add any wingview with its pit . The problem is I want to try a MV-22 or another helo , but to fly it I would need the thrust vectoring of the Harrier. And to benefit of it , I need a Harrier’s pit … and …
How should I do ? Can I simply add a new line ? I tried and I get CTD , but maybe I did smg wrong before ?

Way cool, have been reading the history of the Fairey Delta.2, another limey mach-buster that should have been.

for av8, its cockpitwing part seems to be part of cockpit model, so it doesn’t need extra cockpitwing model. feel free to use other pit.
you don’t need an av8 pit to have thrust vectoring, just direct your ac to use av8.dat FM.

But, without the control of the Harrier’s pit , how could I control the thrust vectoring ? I saw on a vid that there was some specifical step to do ; and no other pits have the button to do thoses step …
How did you managed this ?

There is keystrokes for it… Just check it ingame… VTOL something is written.
