      Hello,
I am new to Falcon BMS and am trying to setup my Logitech X52. I am having some issues. I have been through the manuals and this forum and still can’t get it to work properly, so I figured I would reach out here. The biggest problem I am having is that I have loaded the X52 DX profile as instructed but the only buttons that seem to be mapped in the software is the mouse stick button ( which doesn’t work right anyway). The pinky switch that is supposed to be used to access the DX shifted key bindings, registers in the Logitech software when I click it on the joystick, but it doesn’t seem to have any key bindings assigned to it in the X52 DX profile. Then, when I go into the Falcon BMS game, in the controllers section, (after I have loaded the proper key file), most of the buttons work as needed (except the pinky switch). I then go into the cockpit, in a mission, and test out the DX shifted buttons (as the manual states) and nothing works. The basic profile is there, I can use the basic controls to fly the jet, but the minute I want to access something on the DX shifted key bindings, nothing works. Also, there are some buttons that are supposed to be active from the key bindings and profile, that just don’t work (ex: night vision using the scroll wheel button on the throttle does nothing, have to use the keyboard button to get it to work). Basically, it seems that the X52 DX profile that I pulled from the Falcon BMS controller setup documents is empty or not loading properly.

I am at a loss for this and would love some suggestions. Is there a setup documentation that I have missed (I have gone through all that was offered by BMS)?

For reference my gaming controllers are: Logitech X52 HOTAS
      Thrustmaster MFDs
      TrackIr

Thanks for any help you all can give me.

        Welcome to the BMS community!

Did you at any point use the BMS UI to assign button presses / keystrokes on the stick?

        All the best,

        Uwe

No, I haven’t done that. I have only loaded the x52 profile in the x52 software and also have loaded the key file inside BMS on the controller screen and that is it.

And thanks for the welcome, I am excited to play this game. I have played many hours of F4.0 Allied Force and loved it.

Have a look at your DeviceSorting.txt file (open it in Notepad). Is the Logitech X52 the first line? (If not, make it so.)

I wonder if maybe your MFDs got moved to first line. This can happen eg. if you unplug/replug the joystick… Common rec is to keep a backup copy of the DeviceSorting.txt file, in case it gets overwritten again. (or mark it readonly? not sure if that works)

This will work unless you use Alternative Launcher, which will re-set the Device Order back the way it wants it. On that note, why mess with all these profiles and keyfiles at all, use Alt Launcher to EASILY assign any switch/hat/axis to do exactly what you want!

I will look into the alternative launcher as well. I assume I can get it from the forums somewhere, correct?

Here’s a link to a guide on DX keybinds file creation, if you need deeper info - this is how I created my Falconeer profile(s) for the X52 Pro:
                      blu3wolf.com/falconbms/Kolbe/Falcon_BMS_Keyfile_Manual.pdf

My Falconeer profile won’t work for a non-Pro X52, but you could have a peek to see how it is set up, and maybe how to set up your own DX keybinds file… once it’s done, you rarely ever revisit these things, so it’s worth the effort of learning/going through it at least once: benchmarksims.org/…/X52-Pro-Falconeer-HOTAS-Profile

Thanks for info, I will check out the alt. launcher.

Also, thank you for the DX setup for the x52 pro. I have wondered if the x52 pro would work with the x52 but see now that it doesn’t. I will check out the steps though and see which option (launcher or dx setup) will work best.

                        Thanks again for the help.
