Windows 10 thinks my Cougar is a keyboard
-
Good afternoon everyone,
I have run into a problem. First my CCP was not letting me change axis for my micro stick and as a last desperate measure I decided to flash the system. When I did that, my computer started to see my Cougar as just a key board. I did some research and tried all the below:
1. http://ts.thrustmaster.com/faqs/eng/thr_eng_00073.pdf
2. http://falcon.blu3wolf.com/Docs/CubpilotHOTAS.pdf
3. http://www.viperpits.org/smf/index.php?topic=11536.0But none of those seemed to work. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Other than the micro stick everything was working just fine before the “flash.”
Does anyone know if 4.35 would work if I reimaged with Win7?
Thanks

Quick question Gordo. Is Win10 a trial version?? Or do you have a valid key? I know when using the trial version of Win10, I had serious issues with my Thrustmaster products.
If this is not the case, I would recommend restart from scratch once more (rid your machine of everything TM). As a last resort, I have never had problems with Win7 and 4.35 works fine with that OS.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

Thanks for the reply,
I reinstalled everything like you suggested. Now the computer still sees the Cougar as a keyboard but BMS sees it as a controller. However none of the axis work and neither do the buttons. CCP still doesn’t work. Any ideas? -
Now Cougar is really a keyboard and the mouse besides joystick , as it allows producing characters as macros when programmed so, even moving mouse cursor with microstick.
So technically windows are not wrong … but how you ended up in that “buggy”? state … I have no general idea.
How did you install Cougar’s drivers? Is it visible in “Old Control Panel” as gaming/DX device ?
There is a document somewhere how to install on “newer” x64 systems , win7/8 , but it applies to win10 also… only if I would remember … nvm here:

– aah, sorry, just figured that you’ve already read that … anyway… forget it
- What usb version is port cougar connected on usb2 or usb3.x ? are you using usb hub , powered/unpowered ?
– USB2/3 - I’m asking because USB2 ports are often on intel chip controller, so BEST compatibility … USB3 are various companies chips … let’s say I’ve had problems with my , but after 5 years of drivers updating … they’ve stabilized … lol
If on win10 then it is normal that Cougar is seen as keyboard. mine too.
- I would tell you to try to reflash the stick, but it may be not required… maybe is ok … just not configured properly.
Download DIView and see if stick axis responds.
