Advise from Hornet and Harrier guys…

I intend to make a “Carrier” Helios Profile to use exclusively with the F-18 and Av-8B so I can start flying these birds.
My question, for the guys who are familiar with the airplanes, is whether it is worth to make a profile based in a Ramp Start procedure or if it is wise to keep it basic and start missions form Taxi or Take off.
I don’t know which F16 callbacks are working in these jets so I risk to have non functional switches in my profile if I keep them.
What is your opinion, guys?
thanks :yo:
Hi,Sasah,
Oak is correct , both that the callbacks work for RAMP, and to be watchful with the 4.35 callback/hotspot issue that started the Mafia on it’s merry way.
Wheelchock does have a Helios profile for the Bug. -
Thanks guys.
I have the amazing wheelchock profile already. But I like to personalize my stuffs
Old habits, I guess…

Sasah, whatever you produce, and want to share, would be welcome in the Mafia Files

I would go the route of creating a profile that by default is a RAMP start, meaning when setting the controls down onto the profile make sure their default switch settings are that of a RAMP start. Then you can create additional buttons for HOT, AIR starts that just set the position of those switches that are set. I did this in my F-18 Helios Profile, Linknet did this is his F-16 Ice profile. Its not hard just a little time consuming to get all the switch positions set.

Exactly what I am planning to do! Plus some callbacks regarding to Carrier operations, which is the main objective here.
Thanks wheelchock -

Thanks wheelchockHi, Sasah,
Here are few points from the Mafia Hornet 3dbut.dat that may help with the carrier stuff

This is all copied directly from our 3dbut.dat, which you of course are welcome to use.
Comments-As we modeled the jfs to the engine crank switch, right mouse clicking starts jfs 2. JFS 2, btw, is better in the Hornet
The Landing light was a bit of of a compromise. If memory serves, the RL jet has a 2 posit switch. We decided the 3 emulate the Viper’s posit.
You’ll notice the parking brake-mid has different coordinates. It’s modeled to the separate antiskid switch the Hornet has
Simfltbit is on the right cockpit wall
The IIF Master is again a compromise(You can blame that on me ) I wanted to better emulate Stby mode on IFF by emulating the Viper “knob” that’s labeled Simbupuhfmode. Both this and the Landing light setup is described on p.8 of the Mafia Fighters Manual
Hope this helps! -
Thanks drtbkj, I have been following your mafia’s thread with interest. I will take a look. Cheers

Hope this helps! If building a Helios profile the 3dbuttons.dat is of no interest at all as the main intent of having a Helios profile is to use it instead of clicking anything in the pit and Helios is only relying on the *.key file which if based of the default 4.35 full key file will not include invalid/unused keybinds

Thx for the info, Oak. I’m still just learning Helios
