X52 (std) POV command issues
-
This is my POV hat binding for a TMWH:
SimTrimNoseDown 0 -1 -3 0 0x0 0 SimTrimRollRight 0 -1 -3 2 0x0 0 SimTrimNoseUp 0 -1 -3 4 0x0 0 SimTrimRollLeft 0 -1 -3 6 0x0 0
The numbers after the callback are:
0 Button number, no number because it’s not using normal DX buttons
-1 Cockpit ID, none assigned
-3 DX domain, -2 for buttons -3 for POV
0-7 POV direction, clockwise with 0 being up
0x0 0 Unknown useSimDMSDown 2 -1 -3 4 0x0 0
This looks like the correct use of POV after using pinky shifting. I think if you use pinky shift your POV hat will control DMS. However I don’t see the POV bound to anything not pinky shifted such as:
SimDMSDown 0 -1 -3 4 0x0 0

Hi Frederf,
yep, the POV controls DMS when shifted, that all works correctly, its purely the 3d view rotation (panning) i am having the issue with… everything works perfectly in a 2d pit.
-
2D pit? What game are you playing?
-
sorry, i must be still referring back from the old F4 (origonal), i mean the pit accessed by pressing number 2, i thought this was a “2d” clickable pit… sorry i am just a little green still and unsure how else to explain
-
What I mean is there is no cockpit accessed by pressing 2 in BMS. There’s only the “3” 3D cockpit at all. If you’re using a 2D cockpit you probably aren’t playing BMS.
If you’re trying to use the POV hat to slew the view in the 3D cockpit you would need to bind the appropriate callbacks. Make sure to disable TrackIR in settings as that might interfere with being able to change view direction. Have you tried a line like
OTWViewDown 0 -1 -3 4 0x0 0
Remember that the callback for the DX line must also be present in keyboard form elsewhere in the .key file like so:
OTWViewDown -1 0 0X24 0 0 0 1 “View-rotate down”

……
While I don’t know what it should be called there is certainly a cockpit ‘view’ using the ‘2’ key. TrackIR doesn’t work in that view, but mouse button presses do (iirc).

Do view rotations via sim callbacks work in the 2D cockpit?

Via keyboard yes. Not sure if they’ll DX bind to a HOTAS hat. I think Mouse-look also works.
Can’t recall for sure. Haven’t used it since getting TrackIR and a better PC.

yep thats what i was referring to, unfortunately i dont have trackir (waiting for the oculus to be released), it used to work fine in an older version of bms, update 2 i think…
ive currently got the following mapped to the POV (from keyfile above)
OTWViewDown -1 0 0X24 0 0 0 1 “View-rotate down”
OTWViewLeft -1 0 0X33 0 0 0 1 “View-rotate left”
OTWViewRight -1 0 0X34 0 0 0 1 “View-rotate right”
OTWViewUp -1 0 0X16 0 0 0 1 “View-rotate up”which appears to be the correct commands as far as i can tell, perhaps ill troll the BMS.key keyfile for another string thats not in this one.

Split your problem into bite size pieces. To test if the callbacks work, bind them to keyboard keys first to test if they even work. If they work then you can worry about triggering them by the POV hat.
