Do I have the right pods for the Mav-65G in bad weather?

@sungad By itself or slaved to a radar lock?
-
@migbuster By itself. Lock a target with point track and then fly above a cloud. The TGP will still say point track.
-
@sungad Yes I get that also - did you report this?
-
@migbuster No. I don’t see that as a real bug, more as a lack of a feature. I’m not sure if the laser is able to shine through clouds too.
SInce the TGP never loses track due to clouds once locked, I figured Mavericks might do the same.
However, you can’t command point track though clouds. The TGP won’t lock if the couds are too thick, Mavs refuse to lock through ANY clouds, no matter how thin.
-
@sungad no laser nor lock through clouds = realistic.
-
Something that is supposed to work doesn’t work => bug.
Something that isn’t implemented and was never claimed to be (even though it should be there for realism) => lack of feature.
-
laser will give out and simply refuse to home the missile under certain weather conditions,
sand storms, Thick smoke, Ground clutter, ect
Not at all as easy as we think.
my mate was real tornado pilot and he even says that freefall and dot on the spot were way more deadly and oodles cheaper than the new tech.
This is why they prefer to have the infantry below to lase the target.
Just talking right now after i seen this thread and he told me that thick clouds or heavy rain are the nightmare.
Add to that the fact that you gotta fly straight and level over the target which is pretty tough.
Gps and drones are the new replacement for the laser.

@roy35150 Yeah, IRL. But most of that isn’t modelled in Falcon. Smoke doesn’t block the laser in BMS and I believe it’s the same with clouds.
