Solved Build EHSI with Helios
-
I’ve started using Helios again mainly for an ICP which I,m using with an old mobile phone I had lying around.
So I’ve now decided to do the same for some other gauges. Whilst checking around looking at different setups and profiles, I’ve noticed that some people have a functioning EHSI instead of the one that comes with Helios software. Don’t know if I’m overlooking something but i haven’t been able to find an option for the EHSI within Helios toolbox section so could it be that this gauge is custom made?
Thanks. -
yes the EHSI used by profiles are composed out of basic Helios components. But the good thing you could just copy a working EHSI from another profile into your custom one. Apart from copying the panel that assembles all the parts you might need to copy the corresponding images from the source profile

Thanks for your reply. I downloaded Ice’s CPD version but when I load the profile I get some error msgs concerning “missing callbacks” , CPDAutoUpdate.exe and “missing images”.
I’m not really interested in altering my key file so would it be possible to load an imported Helios profile without having to change the BMS key file? -
@jaycee it depends what you want to create in Helios.
First I would recommend to follow the install document. You don’t have to change your key file that you use in the first place. You can just reference the key file that comes with the profile without using that key file in BMS.From there on it highly depends what you want to achieve/build with Helios if you need to make changes to your key file.
Example if you want to build a 3 way switch in Helios you should not use the toggle callbacks but the explicit up center down callbacks, which are usually not bound in a default key file.
But to run a imported profile all callbacks that are used in that profile have to have a bind in the referenced key file otherwise that profile can’t be run properly

You are right about following the instructions. I only had a quick glance through it. My bad. It’s a bit more clear to me now.
Not planning on implementing switches apart from the ICP pushbuttons which I’ve already configured using my old mobile phone. I plan on using some other gauges but only for displaying the readings but without touchscreen capability. I got a small 4.3 screen which I use for my HSI but in Helios software it comes with the bezel surrounding the actual gauge and therefore it restricts the size of the HSI displaying on the small the screen. I made a DIY HSI bezel (with rotary encoders thru Pokeys software) that goes over the screen so I would only need the actual gauge to be displayed but without the bezel.
Does the Helios software allow this?
Not sure if this is possible and that’s why I thought of giving the EHSI a try since it looks as if it comes without the bezel.
Man thanks for your time. -

@ertiyu
Thanks very much but I am not able to open the profile without Helios crashing back to desktop.
I,m getting this error msg.
-
@jaycee the profile @ertiyu posted was saved with a Helos 1.6.5xx version. You are trying to open it with a 1.6.3xx or a lower 1.6.5xx version. I’d recommend to upgrade to the latest beta release 1.6.5100 or at least 1.6.5013.
In the latest Helios version there are some changes that if a profile is made/saved with a newer version it’s not backward compatible to older versions anymore@ertiyu I’d suggest if providing extracted profile parts always to give the Helios version number you used in order to avoid such conflicts

Oops sorry, I didn’t remember I had the last version of Helios.
I regret if I can provide you with a version with the latest stable version of Helios. -
Reloaded the link given earlier, it contains a profile compatible with 1.6.5013
Sorry again for the problem -

@oakdesign
I guess I could have posted my Helios version in my initial post.
Ice’s CPD profile working fine now. Thanks for your help. -
@ertiyu
This one worked fine. Thanks so much. This is exactly what I was looking for. Perfect.
I added the gauge to my ICP profile and it works great. Thanks for sharing.Here’s a pic of the HSI running with BMS.

@jaycee
it was my pleasure, sharing our knowledge is the great strength of the BMS community.
Good flight to you.
