X45 button not working
-
Hi,
I’ve just finished setting up Falcon BMS with my Saitek X45 and I’m having problem where none of the buttons are working in-game. In the setup all the axis and buttons are showing up but once I get in game, only the axis work. I and adjust my throttle, roll, and pitch. The hat-look also works. But all the buttons are unresponsive.
In the Setup -> Controllers screen, I’ve selected my controller. When I press the buttons the input section correctly identifies the button I pressed and tells me what it is mapped to (ie, Button 1 HOTAS-First Trigger Detent). I click apply/ok and then fire up instant action and then none of the buttons seem to do anything. Any idea what is going on here? I would assume that since the setup screen correctly reads my button presses, the game proper would as well.

Press the save button? Have you set the difficulty to 100% real? What buttons aren’t working? (What are you pressing and what’s the expected result)

I feel silly now… I had to reinstall my computer a few days ago and when I reinstalled BMS, I neglected to reset the difficulty back to my beginner settings… Once I lowered that setting back down, the buttons all do what I expected them to do. Thanks Frederf!

Hello,
I’m glad you solved the problem!
I have an x45 too, I was wondering if I could take a look at your keyfile?Thank you!

Sure, I’ll post it when I get home tonight but I haven’t done much tweaking so it’s pretty much stock.

Seeing all the comments on the Saiteks, makes me wonder about replacing my venerable X45 that I’ve been using since SP4.2 and now with BMS4.32 This is a solid system, meaty and intuitive. Although the trigger doesn’t work any more - I’ve reassigned to a button - the unit still works flawlessly, and never let me down. I would like a system with more capabilities and I did think of the X55. It has lots of switches that I would find extremely useful; but the “tacky” build is a problem. As said, the X45 feels good and solid, and the throttle is nicely incremental with that noticeable step into burner. The stick has the right amount of solidity of movement. A replacement would need all of that - including ease of assignment - plus more buttons, etc., for a truly comprehensive HOTAS. It seems the X55 is not that replacement. Anyone know what would fall into such a category?
Many thanks, and cheers

I have the x45 too. Bought it when I started flying BMS about a year ago, moving up from some old Microsoft Joystick.
It might not have the worlds most precise stick, but when it comes to price vs. value, it’s still THE choice.Bought mine off ebay for about 30EUR, later bought another one for the same price. The second one sits in a closet as a replacement - for the day my first X45 might stop working….
I did try a couple of other, more expensive, more HOTASes at the German Buchenau BMS LAN last year. Yes, many are a lot better (force sensing IS a game changer), but they cost a lot more. The X52 especially seems to be too close in performance in order to justify the money spent to upgrade (while the X45 is in working order).EDIT: Now I see youre thinking about the X55… thats a nice one, thinking about it, too, (for when my second x45 has flown its last mission)
