Quality level
-
What does this affect?
Reason I ask is I run BMS on a single Titan Black and I can select quality from 1-7 so I jsut put it at 7.
I’ve just installed the game for a friend who is using a single GTX980 but he can only select from 1-3 even though the 980 is a faster card?Is there a setting I can tweak maybe to add more happy eye candy? he is only on 1080p so has no lack of fps.
Thankies

This Quality Level is the level of Anti aliasing being applied. Classical you don’t need a lot as you might use in a first person shooter.
Some drivers will only give a option of 0123 others will run up to 7. Personally mine is set to 2 out of 7 I don’t see the need for more and it will only heat up your GPG for no benefit.
Happy eye candy ? Sorry I don’t use makeup !
Object Detail and Density all the way up and a few minor tweaks in the Config Editor, but most are set by default.
More pixels on your display is the other thing. -
I see, thanks for the help
He’s been eyeing up my monitor for a while Ill maybe nudge him that direction
I use a 40" phillips 4k monitor which has almost the same pixel density as my old 27" 1440p so it’s perfecto

Its been hinted at elsewhere on these forums anything over level 2 is a waste of resource. Or, if you prefer, anything over level 2 doesn’t make a difference to the appearance.

Do not set it more than 2 or 3.

I am tempted by that too once the OcUK new product tax is removed.
What was the impact on fps going from 1440p to 2160p for you?

What about -g5 object detail to 31? Is there any benefit at all to that? It doesn’t harm my fps that I notice.

It doesn’t harm your FPS cos it isn’t doing anything.
Back when the -Gx switch did do something, its primary (perhaps only?) benefit was pushing out the level (distance) to which the terrain engine would use the L0 and L1 files for drawing the terrain from your viewpoint. BMS doesn’t use these files (I’m not even sure it uses L2 after first start any more!) and so by having the ability to push the terrain detail out to 31 would be a pure placebo. Indeed, this option isn’t even available in the Setup page any longer.
With regards to Object Density and Object Detail, by having these set to the default max levels of 6 and 7, you are already maxing out the detail and density available in the database for 3D objects, e.g. number of buildings used to build a city block.
Drop the -Gx switch cos you are gaining nothing from continuing to use it.

Hey there got mine from Ocuk too, Falcon wise I still get well over 100fps using a single Titan black.
Newer stuff using all 3 caards I hover around 60-65fps on most stuff (max settings)
