Turning Cursor On/Off
-
I have PointCTRL and appreciate being able to look at a button/switch and use PointCTRL to interact with that button/switch, however, I find that the cursor appearing/disappearing whenever I glance over a button/switch to be very distracting and annoying. Is it possible to turn this off so that I can have a “clean” view when I just want to look around and not interact with anything and then turn it back on when I want to interact with the cockpit?
I thought OTWMouseButtonsIn3dToggle or SimToggleCursorCenter would do this but it seems to just turn off the cursor but can’t seem to turn it back on? Or am I mis-using it and should use another callback instead?
Thanks!

On my system, that’s “SimToggleCursorCenter” Alt C : C by default and I have it mapped to a DX button as well. When you toggle it the cursor will leave being locked to the center and be out of your way until you toggle it on again.
You want “set g_b3DClickableCursorFixToCenterIfVR 1” in your falcon bms user.cfg so it activates when you enter in VR.

@Snake122 I have both set up. When the mission starts, the cursor is there and I can left click on whatever I’m looking at. When I then press SimToggleCursorCenter the cursor disappears, but does not appear again regardless of whether I am looking at a clickable item or pressing SimToggleCursorCenter again. Basically, once I turn off the cursor, it does not come back on.

@Atlas Same here, do you solve this issue?
-
@BlackBelt Yes, I just move the cursor “off-screen” when not in use. Not exactly ideal, but better than nothing at the moment.

@Atlas Instead of using PointCTRL, I solved the mouse issue mapping the left CKPIT up/cw and right CKPIT down/ccw buttons on my Warthog (using shift key), now I look to the button/switch and click using my joystick, but the cursor always at center is very annoying indeed.

@BlackBelt yes, the issue was more about the cursor being visible and distracting.

@Atlas yes, the above solution should work but…

SimToggleCursorCenter
Is that a VR-only thing? I never could get it to do anything (pancake mode).
There are separate cfg options (g_b3DClickableCursorFixToCenter vs g_b3DClickableCursorFixToCenterIfVR) so I’d assume the callback is relevant in both modes.

Works for me in VR, haven’t tried 2d I think. I’ll try to remember to tomorrow.
FWIW, most of the time I move my view down to the ICP and toggle off the Cursor lock and then turning it back on bring the cursor back to the viewpoint for PointCTRL, etc.
