Solved U2 CTD After launching BMS
-
Hello,
I experience a CTD just after launching BMS : the screen with BMS logo + disclaimers appear then I go back to the desktop.
I tried to open Falcon both from the actual launcher & from the former one (MyInstall/Falcon BMS 4.37/Launcher.exe) : the CTD always occurs.
I don’t know what kind of relevant infos I could add to help you.
All the crash logs are in this folder.
Thanks for your help,
Hawk -
Thx for your help @Tumbler31 & @airtex2019 : now the U2 runs fine w/o CTD. I now have to test in flight but at least BMS doesn’t crash anymore when launching.
I never suspected “C:\Program Files (x86)” install to be a problem as 1. I have no specific knowledge in IT & 2. all over games (including BMS since I began with 4.34) run perfectly in this repertory.
Thank U one more time for your time & your kind answers.
Cheers,

remove BMS - Auto.key in the user config folder

Thank you Max.
BTW, it doesn’t work. Once erased, this very file is recreated by BMS at each new launch (both with and without setup ovrd).

Does installing it somewhere else than
C:\Program Files (x86)\Falcon BMS 4.37
help? -
@Tumbler31 I have to try
-
@Hawk as a general rule don’t ever install things under Program Files that don’t want to put themselves there. and BMS is definitely not one of those things.
Windows applies a lot of special rules and behavior, to stuff under those directories… some of this can be worked around but why ask for trouble.
-
admin elevation (UAC) required to write files
-
antivirus are especially aggressive in monitoring/blocking activity in these folders
-
app-compat flags and rules controlling 32- vs 64-bit registry and filesystem redirection, are partially keyed on these locations
…anyway BMS is a mix of x86 and x64 binaries so I wouldn’t even know which PF folder to want to put it in
