Unsolved Store Station positioning
-
While analysing a Model_0.lod files store stations (Eurofighter in this case) I figured that the Y axis coordinates of some stations are not always symetric for the left and right side. The Associated parent.dat file doesn’t have that problem, but here the data look different to those in the Model_0.lod file. Especially for the AFM I’d guess that the position data are important for CG modelling. That leads to the following questions:
1.) Which data are actually used by the AFM code?
2.) Is there a difference between model_0.lod position data and parent position data, i.e. one being used for the visualisation only and the other for the Flight Model code?
3.) Or does Parent.dat content overrule Model_0.lod content?
4.) If there are multiple Model_X.lods assigned to a parent does it impact the Flight Model code, if there are position data differences?

Last Eurofigther is done by @Manos1981 …
Let’s see if he can check it

@Scorpion82 AFAIK parent.dat overides in old lod format the lod data it self so basically the slots on the mesh tree is something like placeholders. Therefore @Mav-jp can be more specific than me. Now for the AFM file i have no clue how and what can be done also Mav can answer here as well. Have in mind that the model it self was made not having a AFM in mind and if something is off in some of the axes X,Y,Z then probably will not fly as it needs to

Thank you Manos. I have conducted some tests aligning the station positions between left and right side. No notable effect though. I’ll conduct some additional trials with somewhat more offset positions in the Parent.dat just to confirm the impact. In general the model is fine. As I have created a Typhoon AFM and noted a slight roll tendency I suspected offset positions might be a reason for this.

@Scorpion82 Could be… as i said only Mav can answer
