X65F or the Warthog

What is better in your guys opinion?
A few questions about the x65F
How does the buttons feel are they mushy or not tactile?
How is the throttle axis does it go out of center and need alot of work?
How is the force sensing is it able to be accurate over the years or does it loose its accuracy? Thanks

Got your PM but will answer here.
No issues with my x65 with centering or buttons malfunction, tactile feel is good.
Have had it now 4 Yeats and no issues. Love the force sensing.
Never had a warthog so can’t compare but I hear it may have issues.

Same here! 4 Years with my X65F, works perfektly and i love the force sensing too… No centering problems!
7.0.10.1 Beta driver in use (solved same issues) and the “ministickFIX” patch. -
The buttons are not mushy, but they are not as firm a depression force as my cougar requires. Cant compare to the warthog, but I would put the X65F’s tactile response as being better than an X52, but not by a huge amount. If the warthog is similar to the cougar in this department then it is a world above the saitek offering.
Never ever had an issue with the throttle axes. The throttle itself feels like a quality piece of work. The buttons on it feel a little plasticy in comparison to the all metal construction of the throttle grip itself. Again somewhere the cougar improves on - although the throttle itself feels better on the X65F than the cougar, its just the buttons that feel better on the cougar.
Had a significant amount of use on the stick for a few years. No issues with losing sensitivity, although I did have serious issues with it for some time. All of them were eventually solved by plugging the stick into a powered USB hub. Curiously my sticks (I had it replaced whilst trying to fix this, and the new one was the same) worked perfectly on my laptop and on other computers - just didnt like mine. It would ‘wander’ around as though I were pressing on the stick while I wasnt touching it. Think I ended up blaming it on the power supply, because like I said putting it in a powered hub solved it.
Good stick, force sensing of any kind is amazing and not worth flying without IMO, buttons a little cheaper than they could have been, good throttle and the construction felt solid besides the buttons.
Placement of the stick controls annoyed me. The pickle placement under the trim hat did result in some inadvertent weapon releases whilst I used it. Worth it for the force sensing. I only swapped to the cougar after getting a force sensing kit for it.
Warthog < X65F < force sensing warthog

Never used the Warthog but my X65 is a few years old and still in great shape. Absolutely love the force sensing. All buttons and hats are still nice and tight. Only thing I’d change is the amount of force needed to move the throttle. Is very stiff even when on the lowest setting.

Haven’t had any issues with my Warthog. Some people have and a lot of people haven’t. 851 flight hours in the current logbook plus TE time I’m easily 1000 hours into this setup that is oh like 4 or 5 years old now. The only thing I’ve wondered about which those that have done it swear by it for BMS is force sensing mod for the SSC. Since I wouldn’t want to deal with force sensing and rotary or older plane flying I’ll just stick with the default hog for the moment.
The one main thing that turned me off about the X65F was the placement of the fire button below a hat which is not the way the F-16 is set up and IMO doesn’t make any sense. Other than that the X65F is a fine quality HOTAS as well. The main problem for you would be that the X65F HOTAS is end of life so just like the Cougar setups you would have to get one second hand.

I’m running X55, and it’s working well. Traded up from X52. Other than not having a burner detent, I like the X55.

I’v used both. The warthog stick is beyond anything Else but the forcesensing is solid as a rock and compensate for the lower qual on the X65f.
I would buy a spare if I found one. -
I got 3 years and a few months of flying about 4 days a week out of my warthog. The stick is still working great. The throttle just died a few weeks ago and it was recommended by Thrustmaster to replace the unit. The mechanical parts all still worked great, it was something with the electronics that went bad. I am currently using my back up CH Products pro throttle and I really miss the warthog throttle.
