Weathermap and Weather commander wind direction
-
I did some tests and didn’t found the problem immediately.
If you use a weathermap generated by Weather Commander, in the TE don’t click on the button Save Weather otherwise all your wind directions will be rotated of 180°.
For example, you generate a Weather commander map named Wind90-10knts where you put all the wind arrows blowing from the 90 at 10 Knts.
You create a TE named test-wind-dir and you select the map wind90-10knts.fmap.
If you play the TE as is all will be fine, you will have the wind blowing from the 90 at 10 Knts.
But, if you click on SAVE WTH, 2 files will be generated as described in the manual but if you play again the TE, the wind will blow fron 270 at 10 knts. To check you open the file generated “test-wind-dir.fmap” and you will see all the arrows rotated of 180°.
I think there is a mistake in the program which generate the file “name of the mission”.fmap. -
Ah the old “wind to” (programmer convention) and “wind from” (aviation convention). Can you check magnetic vs. true as well?
-
wind from is the convention
i will check if i can repro the bug

I can confirm this bug (already reported at https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?24233-Weather-Commander-GUI-wind-bug).
-
Update: Clicking SAVE WTH is not even necessary for the bug to occur; just resaving the .tac (which causes the .fmap to be automatically resaved as well) already causes the bug.
Interestingly enough, saving the .tac and/or .fmap AGAIN after the wind flip has occurred will NOT cause a “re-flip”.

Little UP,
Can someone tell us if this problem will be solved or do we have to do with it ?
