Microstick (again)
-
I hadn’t thought of using another button. Thanks for the idea I will try it.

Kolbe said that it is broken but would be fixed in U1.
Maybe you are confusing things.
We won’t fix your faulty hardware.What I said was that the problem of faulty cursors is well known.
We have implemented a new callback SimCursorStopMovement, which simply
toggles between “cursor active” (you can slew it) and cursor inactive (stops slewing).
This callback is not implemented correnctly, hence doesn’t work atm.
And that’s exactly what we will fix in U1. -
At least 2 users (maybe more) have confirmed to you that their microstick on the CH pro throttle works perfectly fine in 4.33 (i’m one of them). No tweaks necessary, same as it ever was.
Have you tried calibrating your microstick in the CH Control Manager? Do you use it without issue in any other games? Are you sure you bound the correct axes under advanced controls in the UI?

Some CH microsticks don’t return to zero fully. You can use the Control Manager software to set a bigger deadzone than the game offers itself.

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. I decided to connect my extra Extreme 3D Pro and set the X and Y axis on it and it works great. So I am using it. By the way I don’t know why anyone would think I was referring to anyone fixing any hardware is incorrect. I meant nothing of the kind. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. Thanks again for everyone’s help.

Taotoo has the right idea, all you really need is to set a higher dead zone. The microstick is not the most precise of instruments but with dead zone work it can be very useful!

My microstick is one of the bad ones also. Was about ready to quit when I tried the following in desperation- CH Control Manager, Throttle, microstick Sensitiviy 50, deadzone 40 for both axis. Then in BMS control setting advance, choose large deadzone for x and y of avionic radar cursor. I can finally use the TGP again!
I like the big solid feel of the CH Products but that throttle joystick is just a bad design IMO.

sorry to necro, I have the wondering cursor in BMS and DCS, I set a deadzone of about 15 in Control manager, problem solved.

I settled on about 15 too. With a deadzone I find the two speed slewing thing becomes tricky to use, so I use a script for slower slewing when the cursor is shifted. If anyone knows how to extend the “slow” band that would be a better solution.
//Cursor shifted fine tune
IF (JS1.B4) THEN
SCALE (JS2.A1, 16, 15, GAIN6);
SCALE (JS2.A2, 16, 15, GAIN6);
ELSE
SCALE (JS2.A1, 100, 15, GAIN6);
SCALE (JS2.A2, 100, 15, GAIN6);
ENDIF
