I'm a pain in the butt

yes it would help to know the exact HOTAS and,
no… it’s better for him to sit and make his own. And avoid to use pre programmed profiles cuz sometimes they can waste your whole day and still do nothing… but it’s his choice after all…
If he has a cougar then he is set. If he has any other HOTAS then he can either simulate the same buttons (that can be found to the TO-BMS1F-16CM-34-1-1 manual) and if he has spare buttons also mapp some other keys. Or, he can think clever and see that trim for example is not so important as the [MISC: Pitch Switch - Cycle (also Combat AP)] button. That will save him 3 spare places at his HOTAS, because you won’t need trim so much if you have a button that his only purpose is to well… keep your jet for flying strait ahead; You obviously don’t know shit about controllers and give a poor advice as result.
There are very good controllers and profiles as well apart from Cougar, and each has a own section in subforum where he should look first for a decent profile that looks similar to the real one mentioned in manual.

So you must be the smart one here.
Have I ever said that the Cougar is superior to other HOTAS? I use a x52 and a lot of people hate the x52 for its loose spring, it’s jittering sliders, the poor profiler that doesn’t ****ing work properly and it’s not to mention that it has problems with USB 3.0 ports, windows 8 and windows 7 windows vista and sometimes the keys do not work and you have to play the hacker in order to fix them etc… but still for its price its a pretty damn good HOTAS and I’m glad I bought this instead of a Cougar that costs alot more and it can also be subject to a variety of problems.
Where is my poor advice? Point it out for me if you please mr clever. I’m actually the only one here helping this guy, look at my posts, I mentioned important controls that have changed from 4.32 to 4.33, I have mentioned where to look in the manuals section to educate himself for all that there is to know, I mentioned all the original controls and that this is the way that this game is supposed to be played and also I stated that even though that’s true, a lot of people (including me) have found shortcuts in our profiler making, by wasting days in order to find the proper controls and their functionalities, because, some guy in the manual decided that hey, they are going to figure it out themselves… Or they gonna ask the community, **** cares? Right?
If he wants to find pre-made profiles then that’s ok for me. And yes, definitely he should look at the subforums for any kind of support for his HOTAS, I forgot to mention that, thanks.

Calm down gentlemen, this is clearly a misunderstanding…. (and the word choice is not particularly called for, BTW).
If you want to map primarily the F-16 HOTAS buttons, then yes, Cougar is the king and easiest to setup.
If you have another controller and you want F-16 HOTAS functions in priority (which I think if the best approach, but you do you), you do have to “adapt” the F-16 functions onto your controller. I should know, I did it with a Warthog. And it is also true that if you dont have enough buttons or you need extra stuff (like view controls if no TIR), you have to make choices or rely on shifted functions.
If you want to have a personal setup on your stick with the buttons that arrange you at the place where it suits you, you are also completely free to do so.
To achieve all that, it is indeed perfectly fine to rely on profiles posted on the forum. I do advice to take the time to understand how your stick setup works if you want to tweak it to your particular needs - but yet again, to do that, its a good idea to start from an existing profile.

That is the same for any other HOTAS if a good setup file to your liking is available, I do not see any difference or advantage for the Cougar in that respect.
We do not now what HOTAS Skyhawk has, let alone what he wants making it impossible to give a good advice in the first place. -

…
Which is what I said : you can adapt another controller to mimic the F-16 HOTAS. That still does not change the fact that the Cougar is a replica of the F-16 HOTAS. I did say that using existing profiles was actually a good start.
I posted here to defuse the situation, yet you piled up on it (cf deleted posts). So how about you take the hint and calm the hell down. Just because you did share your X-55 profile does not make it ok to insult people advising not to use existing profiles.

First of all I respond to you (as quoted) as the Cougar should be the King : If you want to map primarily the F-16 HOTAS buttons, then yes, Cougar is the king and easiest to setup. ,
and in that respect I gave my opinion that I disagree. X-55 does not need any setup once BMS has a good keyfile, I have mapped all the F-16 Hottas functions too, though some have limitations but that does not make the Cougar a King to me at all. That is an opinion and let’s agree to disagree, just fine to me.I do not need to calm down, I react on accusings.
I found it pretty much disrespectful for all of the profile makers in here to be accused for making some kind of malware, and therefore should be avoided as the pleague, and next and perhaps the worse part of it that as a result of previous an apparantly rookie (in all respect) was advised to make his own profile from scratch.Did I mention my motivation or the X-55 in the first place as you tend to imagine?

All I can see from Nuke is :
@Nuke:yes it would help to know the exact HOTAS and,
no… it’s better for him to sit and make his own. And avoid to use pre programmed profiles cuz sometimes they can waste your whole day and still do nothing… but it’s his choice after all…No “malware” talk, no “pleague”, no accusing. And yes, if you blindly take a preset profile without trying to understand how stuff work, that can be a waste of time - so starting from scratch does have some value. And that is nowhere near an accusation for people who do share profiles.
So stop derailing this thread for nothing if you dont want me to take further action.
EDIT : and since you apparently still cant understand or even respect a moderator decision, you’re getting one week of vacation.
Let’s get this thread back on topic…
