Metalhead - your pictures look awesome.
I can’t get my install to take your data correctly. I tracked down v5.23 of lodeditor to get the append parts to work. Then I went back to v6.23 for the rest. My issue is that once I installed the model the skin sets didn’t sit correctly. I tried to follow your install instructions but no luck yet. Check my included pic to see what I mean. I’m sure I messed up a step somewhere, but which one? And yes, I read the directions to the end - even the append texture part. Ideas? My dunce cap awaits.-Babite

Can we talk tonight on Falcon online teamspeak? I can help you better using the teamviewer. If yes, download and install it ASAP (if you do not already have it installed). “Teamviewer”
I have no idea what is wrong in this installation of the F22, but I am sure I can help you anyway.
Regards Metalhead -
The Babite’s problem was solved through “teamviewer” already. It was missing some LODs, and the “cockpit DAT” file as well as the “buttons DAT” file
-
Not to mention Babites’ computer was being bad.
Guys, MAJOR THANKS go to Metalhead. He spent several hours with me to try and get things working, using his own SPARE TIME. Awesome. After watching him go through stuff and try to get me up and running, WOW. Give this guy a hand. His model is awesome, looks great, and the pit works infinately better than the stock F-22 pit in BMS. My hat is off to him!

Hello Metalhead,
Looking forward to the completion of your beautiful F-22,I really like what you’ve done so far…dfang

New updates available soon…

Great work metalhead!
I have a question. Have you considered modeling airborn refuel for f-22? Would your f-22 be able to get refuels from kc135? Just curious
Thanks!

Yes, but If I have to change something, in order to make the animation looks like in the RL, I will have to learn what to change, and how to change it.
A question: Have you tried to refuel it?
I haven’t, I can’t even do it on F16 yet…lol
Lots of things to learn before I can do such “Work”…
Regards Metalhead -
Refuel works in the f-22 the same exact way it does in the f-16

Metalhead - post #451, those screw holes would be called countersunk (for a flush fitting bolt/screw head), or a pocket like on the ICP side, or for the DED lines either “milled” or “flutes”.
Slight requests for changes while trying to fly Metalheads’ great work - these are NOT critisisms, merely quick observations. Metalhead has definately done an amazing job.
1. I caught this one while giving the stick a hard pull back, a high G type move. Metalhead put in a tape-like ADI display on the upper right of the dashboard, that nice teal blue screen. There is also another tape imposed on that display, I don’t know if it should be AOA (my guess) or maybe the VVI. Anyway, when I pulled more positive G it kept climbing up the display. Eventually it should have hit a point where it should have dissapeared like when you unload the aircraft and increase - G, but it jumped out of the display and imposed itself over the threat warning lights. I don’t know how to fix this one - I don’t know enough on the subject and I’m not afraid to say it. If there is one fix to have it would be this one. It’s eye candy but with everything else looking so great it stands out.
2. Since there is no analog altimeter given I can’t adjust the pressure setting and thus have the incorrect altitude when flying above the transition altitude in Korea, 14k’. And if the atmospheric pressure changes while I’m in flight - I’m assuming that the sim sets the initial pressure setting for me upon taxi or takeoff - I smell a ground impact or collision hazard comming at some point. The AI may not have this issue, but I’m foolish enough to do it!
3. When I tried a flyby I noticed that once the aircraft “passed” my viewpoint there came a certain point where the aircraft turned green from the normal blue grey. I’m guessing that this is from the lod change from the detailed model to the lower resolution model, I have no idea how to alter this. I’d assume it would take a “simple” skin edit to fix, but I don’t know enough about that. I’m running a single monitor, resoution in flight is supposed to be 16x9 across a 20"? class monitor so for me it was barely detectable, I just caught a slight flicker of color change. Keep in mind that it may not be any problem with Metalheads work but my own graphics card misbehaving, I haven’t ruled that out yet.
4. Don’t know what I did but somehow at one point I either increased the text size of the DED or made it BOLD. It got a little hard to read.
5. A hot point or button to work the HSI knobs instead of keystroke commands would be a nice touch, though I don’t know that the real Raptor has them.
6. I spend my ammo stores - bombs and missiles, but they still show up inside the weapons bays. I know the external ones on other aircraft disappear, haven’t looked that closely at the internaly stored weapons aircraft. A later down the road fix perhaps. They look good in the bays, but the 120’s over the mud bombs also are distracting.
7. Someone to help Metalhead with the “DOF” issue with the weapons bay doors. I’d volunteer but I know < squat on the subject.
8. This is a big one, and should be mandatory - a big hand for pulling off what you’ve done so far! This should apply to all developers in BMS however, since they are giving away their spare time for FREE.
Again, these are observations, not personal attacks or critisisms of work done. And remember that the fuel guage is ICP list then button 6.
Metalhead - great work thus far.

Well my friend Babite, you are correct in all you’ve wrote, and I have the “fix” for almost all the problems you said. Thanks for bringing this up… I am not understanding that at any criticism, but as a compliment instead.
Well I will try to describe a solution for some of the related problems. Some I did not fix yet, but Know how ±.
1- For the Tape you mean, it is the AOA, or is supposed to be, but it has wrong animation, and I am trying to set it correct. (I’m trying). there is a way to adjust “limits” on the dof, but I couldn’t find the better yet.
As you said, “eyes candy”, all F16 functionality, Maybe I will never make it work correctly. (maybe)
2-For the altimeter setting, There is not for now, but will be added in the future, when I buy the new computer I am planning on. My own is “piece of shit”
I am planning to make the Alt set as digital, and “touchscreen” (well, touch with the mouse cursor of course) inside one of the MFDs…
3-The problem with the lod2 turns green, you are correct to say, it is wrong. but not your problem, my problem instead, and easy to fix. It is related to the “texture sets list” Do you remember when I helped you to install the F22 models, and in the external, after installed I’ve edited the (External model)? So, do you remeber how I did input a new texture set for the lod 1 of the F22? So it is the same procedure, BUT, you are going to edit the “lod two”, not the “lod one”… and the texture set list for the lod 2 is also different from the lod 1. If you are in doubt, I will be ON all afternoon on FO teamspeak, just give me a call…
Do not update parent record from the edit page in the lod editor from the lod2, or you may mess all the ct record of the F22.
4-About the text size… It is a problem I admit I did not find the better solution, but I will make it better, I promise. You only have to be patience…
5- in the hsi page on center MFD (fake HSI page, of course) there are two rounded arrows, on LR side of each arrow are located the hotspots for the HSI, try it…
6-About the missiles and bombs in the F22. Those are 3d models in the same external model, and it will never be launched, as there are not animation applied to them. But I am working already on that. All I need is to know how to “link” a CT RECORD to a PARENT RECORD, and I will create new CT’s for the F22 missiles and bombs, so this way I will not harm the F16 munitions, and nobody will complain…lol and I will be able to make them be launched from the WBD, and everybody will be happy with that animation…
7- Dont be worried about dofs help, I am ok with that in this moment, but thanks fo be in my behalf on that… Very appreciated.
8- I did not understand very much, tried to translate, but it become worst… so no reply for this one…
One more announcement. I will work on (fake DIGITAL INSTRUMENTS) in the Center MFD, and will remember to add all that are missing.
I really want to thank you for bring that up, much appreciated… Be sure I want the F22 very enjoyable, and functional, fully animated, and ready to go, so I will keep it up, always.
Regards Metalhead -
Metalhead - Try looking up: props, congradulations, cheers, thanks …
I intended no rush on any of my observations - it works well enough as is with the “limited” information that is available to the general public. Again, many thanks for the work you did. And no, I’m not touching anything in Lod Editor.

Metalhead - I’m playing around again and I have a couple of screen shots - both are with the jet in full afterburner. The difference is only a couple of degrees of view, but the afterburner is completely obstructed/missing in the second picture, even though (as far as I can see) there is no reason that it shouldn’t be visible. Have you noticed this before? It’s like there is something in the way blocking the view of that hot jet flame comming out, but nothing is there (that I can tell). Any ideas? The way I came across it was durring a victory movement after a kill in a dogfight against a MiG-29 (S?). I pushed the throttle to the physical stop, could see & hear the afterburner, pulled max G for a loop, then went external to watch how it looked, then panned around from bottom to top - that’s where/when I caught it. I don’t know if that is something that you can fix or if it’s due to Falcon itself. I tried the same thing with the F-15C, boy does that thing suffer! The missiles were the same - AIM-120s and AIM-9xs, but the F-22 seems to have a better chance of knocking out the MiG before the MiG spots me than the F-15. The -120 seems to be able to reach out farther on the -22, with a better chance of a kill! I suppose that’s all the more reason to enjoy the -22. Anyway, the -15 did not seem to have this same afterburner issue. Maybe it’s due to the adjustable nozzles of the (the name I grew up knowing it by was) Superstar? Like the Falcon software (not BMS, but the old Falcon code) removes it because it expects the nozzle to be there? I don’t know. But I figured you’d like to know still. Don’t feel this is a comment against your work, since IN REALITY you’d never be able to look at your jet while in flight anyway and I doubt anyone would be close enough to it to see this actually happen.
Another thing I’d recommend changing is the file for the vapor/mist that builds up under heavy +G along the wing upper surface. It’s not transparent and looks like a parachute skin was applied to it instead of the moisture that should be there. If I knew the correct #‘s I’d mess with it to get it closer, but I don’t know how/where to find that. And the lack of wingtip trails while maneuvering - those would be nice too. But again, I don’t know enough on the subject. Or maybe it’s just my PC keeping up its’ grudge against me.
Still, EXTREMELY HAPPY with the work already done! These are still just observations I’m making, my attempts at doing anything this “advanced” would come out horrible for a few years with my current knowledge on the subject. I’m stunned with how well the sim has done to begin with, and it just keeps getting better. Keep it up!
-Babite -
Thanks again to bring this up, I will work on all that as well.
The afterburner effect is very ugly, I know… but it was the first attempt to make one, and I never changed due to the fact It is difficult for me to create that effect, as well as the vapour effect, I could not find a way to make it better, but I am always trying to make it better.
Just be a little bit more patience…
I am glad you are pointing me up to the errors and mistakes.
Thanks.
Regards Metalhead -
I think that HUD is too small.
-
I am sorry, but I am not changing the HUD size if you mean 3d model.
Looks good for me
I have to change the “pilot eye position” , so this way, it will be better…
Trust me -
Metalhead - I’m not comming across well then. The afterburner is fine - when I look at the F-15 it lights up white just like the F-22 you’ve created. That isn’t what I’m driving at. What I’m relating to is the disappearing act it does while panning around. I don’t think that’s something that’s on you. If I knew what is related to getting that to happen - maybe I could play with it to find out what doesn’t work, take some of the load off your sholders. Again, I’m not complaining and I can easily live with the current release. I roughly know how to alter picture files, though it takes me a while to make progress. Anyway, no rush and again many thanks!

Hello all, I’m fairly new to BMS, I’ve been flying it for some months now, it’s a pretty beautiful Sim! I came across your F-22 pit Metalhead, just I am oblivious as to how to properly install it I downloaded your file, extracted to the Data\ckptart\F22 destination folder, but I still get the same crappy non functional cockpit as before, any help with this?

The new F22, and all the cockpit files must be installed using a software called “Lod-Editor”. It is not really easy to work with, but it is not so difficult either. There are manuals regarding how to install models using Lod-Editor. In case you can’t install it by yourself, go to 801st Teamspeak server and I will be there ready to help you install the models.
If you do not have the Ip address for it: 67.228.209.2:9103
I am ON usually all nights starting 7:00PM Brazilian time.

Am I the only dumb who didn’t manage to make this model work? I tried three times using both the written and the video tutorials (I found everything in the link in Metalhead’s post). Can anyone help me? Is there anything I should know? (And yes, I’ve got LOD editor)
P.s sorry if anything is wrong but I’m not english
