Joystick commands
-
Hey all,
Has anyone had issues with their joystick commands disappearing from the in game settings menu. I have an X-65 and after a few days of not logging into falcon I always seem to have to re-bind all my keys in the settings menu. As you can imagine this is quite a pain. I do remember seeing someone with a similar issue, their fix was to change a file somewhere to a read only file. I did try this at the time and it still didn’t seem to work.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Also Merry Christmas everyone! Hope everyone has a safe and happy new year and a sky full of bandits!;)

Hi mate,
I believe the problem occurs if you start BMS without the controller/s plugged in. Connect it all up, start BMS, sort out all the bindings/axis. Save and exit BMS. Then set the following files in ‘\Falcon BMS 4.33\User\Config’ to read-only:
axismapping.dat
joystick.cal
your ‘.key’ fileWith above, any changes you make in-game will not be persistent so you’ll need to revert to RW.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’ll give it a try and see what happens.

If you set these to read only will this have a negative effect on editing any other .key files?

If Windows has changed the order of game controls also they may have changed DX assing.

When you set ‘abc.key’ to RO you will not be able to edit this key in-game (or out-of-game using text editor), unless you change it back to RW. It will not prevent you from editing any other .key files you may have. Not really a negative effect. I haven’t had any issues myself but it really all depends on one’s setup. I always plug my peripherals into the same USB ports. YMMV. This workaround prevents your setup from getting scr3w3d up if you forget to plug in your toys before starting the sim.

I always plug everything in before hand as well but it still happens.
