WIP : Lafayette and derivatives
-
Hello people,
Here is a preview of what I have been working on the past few days : the Lafayette frigates family.
I started with the version employed by RoCN (Taiwan), the Kangding-class frigates. The French Navy’s La Fayette will follow ; they share the same overall structure but with differences in sensors, masts and weapons.
That’s it for now. More details to come later this day, then after a couple of weeks (vacations needed ;)).
Hope you like it !

Very nice work Corsair!!!
Time to give Falcon a little asian touch it’s still lacking so much… And French also, of course.
Regards, mate,
Radium

Nice start mate, Bravo!
Keep on it ;).

Go go mate
-
Thanks.
Made the RIM-72H Sea Chaparral, the battery is installed between the gun and the superstructure. I don’t know yet how it will be integrated with the frigate, so for now I made it as a separate weapon (1,7k tris).More progress on the ship will be shown in a dozen of days. Happy holidays !
Cheers

Got my hands back on 3ds today, some stuff added…
Rear CIWS 20 mm Phanlax
Oto Melara 76/62 Compact deck gun
Quad Hsiung Feng II/III ASMs launchers
Hsiung Feng II
-
Great job this your also, Corsair! You know, I never realized before that the gatling could be so small if compared to the entire body of the CIWS. The same about the OTO Melara cannon.
Keep on this way, and best regards,

Stunning work ! These models are well done !
Once finished it will look incredible !
regards buddy ! -
Thanks guys.
Some progress on sensors & antennae… still many to do. 3D model should be good after this, the landing pad and the two 40 mm Bofors turrets are done. Then, moving on to Lafayette, and mapping.
-
woops…
…and, done ! at least, everything that should be here is here (well, still have to do drive shafts, propellers and rudder, but wanted to show the progress anyways…) .
Converting to French La Fayette ASAP. Then all the other stuff that comes after…

And starting conversion to its French cousin Lafayette, starting with the 100 mm, modèle 68 TR gun
Have a nice weekend !

Wow, amazing work! What about next project Horizon class?
-
Good, or ‘even better’ instead from time to time!
You’re doing an awesome job, Corsair, I’m tempted to start thinking to some new naval TEs with units struggling against each other…
Keep on straight this way, and best regards,
-
Wow, amazing work! What about next project Horizon class?
You mean the one with these ?
That can be considered… but no rush, I want to fully integrate my Lafayette’s into BMS first.
-
I mean Italian/French Multipurpose Frigates, Aquitaine and Bergamini class!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FREMM_multipurpose_frigate
BTW, just keep up with your stunning project, I’ll follow all of your progresses!
-
Ah, yes, the FREMM.
The Horizon are different (dangerous) beasts, oriented towards surface-to-air roles, also in service in French & Italian navies, with the PAAMS missile system. Both are on my list at some point, but one thing at a time thanks ! -
Not a lot of 3D work this weekend, some stuff on the Lafayette herself, and the MM.40 Block III Exocet missile.

Beautiful!
