My virus detector keeps telling me that a file in Lighting’s MFD Extractor “Common.InputSupport.dll” is a virus and keeps blocking it. Unfortunately my virus checker will not allow me to skip alleged virus programs, only malware and certain other files. The virus checker labels this file as a “Trojan.Generic.15330654”.
My only solution appears to be to either get another virus checker or cancel the virus checker and reinstall MFD extractor each time I want to use it.

      So my questions are:
      1. Am I correct that Common.InputSupport.dll is really not a virus?
      2. Does anyone have a better solution than what I propose to do above (the second choice)?

I MANAGED TO EXCLUDE THIS DLL FROM THE VIRUS CHECKER SO NOW MY ONLY QUESTION IS-IS COMMON.INPUTSUPPORT.DLL NOT A VIRUS?

PS: I have used the MFD program for years and today is the first time I have had this issue.

I had the same problem. Norton was doing his work 😞
        I disabled Norton.
Installed MFD Extractor… works just fine now.

I will seek an other program to protect my PC.

        Kind regards,

          Hello Sobe
I had a similar experience recently. You do not say what anti-virus program that you are using but with Avast I was getting a warning when trying to install MFDE 0.6.1.1 about win32:malware-gen in Common.InputSupport.dll which I suspected to be a false positive so I told Avast program that I regarded it as an FP and then with MFDE up and running I performed an independent scan with Spybot that did not detect it in Common.InputSupport.dll so I was satisfied that Avast was wrong and that I was right 😉
I agree that there were never any issues with previous versions of MFDE and I had installed the latest version 0.6.1.1 on another PC without incident

This not uncommon for the freeware tools & FO AddOn theaters we use. I have had this many times with avast.

It may have something to do with the tools used to compile these free apps ? It seems to be a recurring pattern.

              Solution is simple:
Exclude from your AV SW ANY path/folder that contains Falcon stuff.

If you can’t exclude paths from your AV SW, then please change the AV SW as TBH I find it quite ridiculous that an AV SW doesn’t let you exclude whatever you want. That’s what I call over protection 🙂
