Experience from blck 10/15 I cannot remember ever being able to turn lights on without Maingen or ext power. It’s also more complicated than simply batt bus, because you have essential and non-essential buses to remove non-essential equipment (such as lights) in case of an emergency. If your EPU fires, but the EPU generator fails, you’d need the remaining battery power to power stuff like FLCS, and you wouldn’t want to spend power on lights? Makes sense?
Like others have mentioned, pilot’s usually start up aircraft in well-lit conditions. When we scramble at night, our shelter lights are switched off AFTER pins and chocks are removed, and only RED night-lamps are used inside the shelter so we won’t blind the pilot. Everything before that is done lit conditions.

I know the response I’ll get is “devs hate wish lists” but I thought of a cool way to implement a finger light – bind a key to finger light on/off; when it’s on, put a small light source over the mouse cursor. As the user moves the mouse, a section of the cockpit is illuminated and they can see what’s under the cursor.
great idea! anybody able to do that??!
cheers,
