      Hello gents!

This is just another experience, playing with some other Viper’s engine sounds for the cockpit (internal). The results seemed pretty good to me, so I thought some of you guys would like to give it a try.

Here’s a little vid I’ve made so you can “feel” the drums 😉

      DL: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sefdlfgc47kwzw5/SNDINT%20NUNO.zip?dl=0

Instructions: unzip and paste the files inside your \Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Sounds\Engines\Fighter\F-16 and overwrite the original ones (don´t forget to back them up first).

EDIT: 16/07/14 - Added cockpit reflection on the canopy .dds texture:

      Here’s the DL link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/h5d9hm0h7a5zg3c/8005.dds?dl=0

Hope you like them, have a nice flight!

PS: credit goes to the sound makers (whoever they may be, thx guys :D)

Anybody have this sound pack installed with a “butt kicker” device?? If so, how does it feel?

Confirmed. I’d also like to get a hold of those canopy reflections.

                          Hi Nuo Santos!

If you want feedbacks, here is mine:

                          • Bass are much too high comparing to what we hear IRL which is highly filtered by the helmet.
                          • Gear up/down are absoluetly not realistic (IRL you actualy hear and feel nothing at all)
                          • Airbrake mecanical sound doesn’t exist IRL either. (It is a mistake from day 1 to have this sounds in the game)

… Based only on your YouTube vid, I did’t tested the entire package.

At least, this is what I can tell you according to my personal expirances (not as F-16 pilot actualy)

                            Thx for the feedback, Deejay.
Maybe with less bass it’ll come up better.
Regarding the speedbrakes, I’m aware that they are absolutely unrealistic, but as we can’t “feel” the physics, it serves as a handy clue IMO.
As far as the gear sounds, I thought these were the stock ones?!?
                            Will check them out.

                            Thx

Well, this is a compromise linked to butkicker needs. If you reduce the bass, not sure the butkicker will still act. (?)

Agree … and this is why we have the aerodynamic sound of air-brake implemented by default (wrong but accepted audio feedback for relative wind/vibration/deceleration) … but the sound you have here is the mechanical sound of the airbrake extension/retraction which is corresponding to any RL physiological feedback/feeling/sensation and should have never been implemented like (pilot can hear, nor feel the mechanical movement.)

As far as the gear sounds, I thought these were the stock ones?!?

… not the end of the sequence at least. Too loud anyway in the settings and hoestly, shouldn’t exist at all actually since not audible in cockpit and any physiological feedback or sensations.

However, it remains a personal choice set in the Sound Setup.

(This is for your personal info and isn’t a judgment of valor as some ppl might think.)

The only 8005.dds I seem to have is in the recently released “Add-On-Korea-80” folder. Where exactly should I put your 8005.dds to get the reflections?

You should put it in your Data/Terrdata/Objects/ KoreaObj folder, just like any texture.

                                    Hi, donw43.

Please be aware that the cockpit reflection I’m using is placed on top of gizemkar’s instruments lights mod (great mod btw ;)) and shoud be used in conjunction with 8004.dds from the same mod, otherwise it could produce some unwanted effects when lighting up the panels.

On the other hand, you can also cut/copy the cockpit reflection portion of the 8005.dds and paste it on your current 8005.dds using Paint.net, for instance, or any other imaging software that opens .dds files.

                                    Regards,

                                    Nuno

                                      Hello gents,

First of all my compliments to all developers and their products.
What I understand is that sounds can be a personal choice. So my questions for Nuno Santos and Dee-jay are:
                                      1. is it possible to get the sounds of the airbrakes (wind etc.) without the mechanical sound of the airbrakes extension and retraction in your mod?
                                      2. how to delete the sound of retracting gear?

Keep on the good work, thanks.

                                      Eagleeyes

1 - Yes it is possible (and simple) … just delete the corresponding .ogg from the Sound folder.

                                        brakend.ogg
                                        brakloop.ogg
                                        brakstrt.ogg

                                        2 -

                                        gearcend.ogg
                                        gearost.ogg
                                        gearup.ogg
                                        gearloop.ogg
                                        geardn.ogg
                                        gearcst.ogg

                                            Neither.

Can’t check right now, but IIRC the tires’ sounds are from another sound mod. Can’t recall from where, to be honest.

Will check later, if it comes to me I’ll give the info.
