Keypresses invalid when not via keyboard?

Can someone explain why if I press Shift+Num8, the view pans up, but when I program the same command into a hat on my X-52, nothing happens (true for all view commands)?

If you set it up right …. either by assigning the HOTAS hat/button to the view pan up command, or by emulating the key press in the Saitek SST program … it will work.

Recommend using the UI and/or keyfile to directly assign the command to the desired HOTAS hat/button and skipping the Saitek software as much as you can.
