Screen Resolution.

Hi, I am having an issue with Falcon BMS for some reason when I’m in-game on the menu’s basically the interface does not go to full screen it is a box in the top left hand corner for some reason and I am still able to see my desktop.
My PC specs are.
GiGABYTE-GA78LMT-USB3 ATX Micro (Rev 6.0) Motherboard.
16GB of DDR3 RAM at 1600MHz.
AMD FX 4300 Quad Core CPU at 3.8GHz
AMD Radeon R9 270 2GB GPU. (Latest drivers from AMD website).
Windows 8.1 Professional 64 Bit.I am not sure why this happens. It happens for me in Falcon BMS 4.32, Falcon BMS 4.33 and Falcon BMS 4.33 U3.
Also I am not able to launch the game in 64 bit. When I do it throws me out of the game and says (The program has stopped responding). I currently have all three Falcon games set to run in compatibility mode under Windows 7 and they run as an administrator.
Is there a fix for this issue, the reason why I ask is because the menu interface is too small when I go into ‘‘Tactical engagement’’ I want to be able to make everything bigger and still fit on the screen.
Also, what would the best graphic settings be for me? Should I turn them down or leave them as they are for multi sampling.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

A search would have given you your answer as the 2D UI is hard coded to 1024x768 so unless you are running at that resolution you WILL see it in a window on your desktop. There is no “fix” or modification to change that. It will always show up at 1024x768. Don’t bother asking for a patch for that as that has also already been asked for and shot down.

Moin,
Tomcatz had the same problem. It was caused by an updated (Win8- ) driver of his Joysticks.
Try to start BMS without stick. It also may be caused by another input-device.Regards

Ok thank you. I just went to select 1024x768 on the resolution in-game and that option is not there for me at all.

I use a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse to play Falcon BMS. I have never used a Joystick before.

I managed to change my screen resolution so that the in-game menu is full screen. I turned off GPU scaling and it worked.

Are you running under Win 8.1 or Win 7 ?
Why are you running under “compatibility mode”
Have you set any one to run “in a Window”

I have Falcon BMS 4.32 Falcon BMS 4.33 and Falcon BMS 4.33 U3 set to run in compatibility mode under Windows 7 not Windows 8. Should I change it to Windows 8? No they are not set to run in a window.
I have not solved the issue in regards to the Launcher and the 64 Bit issue. As I stated for some reason when I try and run the game in 64 Bit through the Launcher it says ‘‘The program has stopped responding’’ then kicks me back to the desktop.

First off, why, oh why are you running three versions of Falcon? I would suggest copying them as backup, then delete your installs, and do a clean install of 4.33.3 You should able to run Falcon BMS 4.33.3 in Win7/8/8.1/10 64bit with no issues and no compatibility mode needed.
Second, no matter what you do, BMS will go to a lower resolution of 1024x768 when in the 2D menu screens. This is hardcoded in the game and even if it can be fixed, none of the devs have done so yet. When playing in windowed mode, you will see BMS as a small window on the upper left of your screen… or go to your falcon bms.cfg file and set **set g_bCenterUI to 1 and the small window will appear on the center of your screen. When playing in fullscreen mode, the 2D menu screens will fill your entire monitor, but it does this by forcing your monitor to go down to 1024x768 resolution. Don’t worry about it, the game will go to whatever resolution you set (5896x1080 in my case) once you’re on the 3D world.

Kudos to you for playing BMS with a KB/M setup…. but the biggest favor you can do for yourself is to get a joystick or even better, a HOTAS. Have you ever driven a car using your TV remote? Or played Tekken using a Rockband guitar controller? While both are possible, it’s a much easier and more enjoyable experience when doing the relevant activity with the right controller (steering wheel + pedals, PS4 controller).**
