Saitek X65
-
this x52 i just received moves a LOT. going to take some getting used to.
-
I saw 3 X65’s at the Phoenix Fry’s, along with 3 Warthogs… $399 vs. $499…
-
I visited Saitek’s website for the first time in months a few days ago, and the X55 looks REAL interesting, not for the buttons and whatnot, but for the fact that the joystick appears to move, which I much prefer. So do real Viper pilots. I’ve read many books about the F-16, and learned that pilots tended to overcontrol the jet until McDonnell-Douglas put a bit of movement into the control stick.
Then you will also be aware that the SSC is force sensing and the X55 is not.
-
A word of caution:
My “HH” 4-way switch stopped working when pushed to the rear … I’ve had a ticket open with Saitek for 20 days and was told last week that they no have parts to replace/repair my unit.
I’m still waiting to see what comes of this, but I would run away from the X-65F
-
Χ55 is X65 without force censing…(just take the x65 and use a x52-like axis movement)
-
some other things changed around as well….and less quality. the 55 is mid-level, whereas the 65 was supposed to be up with the warthogs of the world.
-
I got my X65 a few years back an I love it. I’ve never had any problems with it. As far as the force sensing goes if you set it up to your liking then it is well worth it.

Any one have a profile for the x65 please.
Thanks Jamie.
-
set it with directX in the sim for the most part, and set the mode switch to press M when moved to mode 3, C for mode 2, and D for mode 1. Apply a registry edit to get the ministick axes working, at the cost of the twist rudder: http://blu3wolf.com/falconbms/jstickaxesmod2.reg
Set the force sensing waay down, so you have to pull the desk around to get full deflection… then make it a tiny bit more sensitive.
-
Blu3wolf can you be a little more clear please are you talking about modes being set in the saitek profiler ? if so I can not assign a key to mode 1.
Thanks
-
yeah, in the profiler, there is a way to assign a key command to be pressed when you enter the mode. I have not used the X65 since I got my FCC3 cougar… but I will have a look to see if I can find a profile I used to use for you. I do not know if I still have it, though. I also cannot recall off the top of my head how I managed to get it working in the first place… sorry!

Hi,Freehand,
Here are 2 files in a zip folder, one for WinXP and one for win7;unzip on your desktop.
Rename the file you need as X65FBMS.pr0 and put it in Saitek SD6 profile
Read again the manual BMS for A/A and A/G stick and throttle features (Plan description)
My profile is very useful for the throttle and close real for the stick. On throttle the “F” button is used to center TRACK IR and rotary 1 and 2 defined in BMS setup user interface.I only use one mode it’s enough you will see.TAKE CARE FOR AZERTY KEYBOARD !!!

All so thanks Blu3wolf for your time.

RedTiger the profile works a treat thanks.
I must say I love the x65 I have had the following and it out shines them all by a long shot.
X52pro
CH
Stock Cougar
G940

If you set the stick with velcro tires, you will get some movement. Or use some screws and don’t have movement at all.
I use velcro and fly this way: -
-
I would have preferred to use screws but the desk was not mine unfortunately… the velcro that comes with it works okay.
Also lamentable was the Cougar not being able to be bolted down (without further modification…), so the purchase of a C-Clamp was most timely. Would probably work just as well for the X65, to anyone else similarly unable or unwilling to bolt their joystick to the surface it rests on.
Also Mower thats the second time this page you have linked that picture to this thread…

Hi,Freehand
If you are happy then I’m happy too!
My first HOTAS was a X52 and i think it’s good for the beginning,
but really the stick like a weak sausage
Unfortunately it seems that X65F will not continue. For myself the big advantage is the four buttons on panel which permit to change the force sensing in flight.
So in air combat strictely speaking my force sensing F1 is 0,78Kgf in X and Y.
F2 is 0,78Kgf for X and 1,25Kgf in Y the ratio here approach the real one 17lbf X and 25lbf Y.
F3 is 0,94Kgf X and 1,25Kgf Y (for air refuelling and landing).Finally F4 is 0,94Kgf X and 1,56Kgf Y.
In all case X and Y have linear curves in dead zones setting with one mark one each side of the centered red line
to determine the dead zone in X and Y.Of course with 0,78Kgf you don’t need scratch or scews to fix the HOTAS on your table! But the sensibility is high, even very high!ps: I edit my post because i didn’t thought that my profile was made with a AZERTY keyboard. It’s important, some
touch woudn’t be good for a QWERTY keybord but it’s easy to correct with the Keyboard given in the DOC.
What is important to know is how using the macro function when necessary in the editor of profile. It took me a lot of time. -
Hello.
I didn’t want to open up a new thread on the x65f as this thread seems suitable for me.
I am thinking about purchasing a x65f force sensing stick. As I am just used to fly in BMS with a traditional stick, I was wondering if it is worth to migrate from a tradtional stick to a force sensing stick. Yesterday I was flying in an f16 simulator in Frankfurt, Germany. It was more a “fun” simulator the guys told me there, as most of the cockpit was not functional. But they had a force sensing stick applied to to the cockpit. I found it hard but also interesting and challenging to fly with a force sensing stick . But more importantly. The last post in this thread is from 2014. Does anybody know if the x65f is still working with Windows10 and BMS 4.34 ? I can get a pre owned one for $350 (290 EUR) on ebay. Good deal? What do you guys think.
