Ok, so no known sound mods that work with 4.34 then?

RE: BMS 4.34 sound mod?
Again, my experience is limited to a TOW missile launch and that ignition doesn’t happen until the missile is a good 30-50 feet in front of the brad (the missile is launched from the tube with a gas which I believe is co2, I could be wrong I’ve been out for a while). And even then the initial ignition is noticable but the sound does quickly fade. That said though I did have comms headset on and the engine was running which is right in front of the turret and right next to the driver (I experienced both angles as I only got to fire 1, they aren’t exactly cheap). In both instances the initial firing of the rocket motor was noticable. Now that maybe completely different to the jet, but either way a quick very low frequency thud would go along way to letting you know as the pilot that the missile came off the rails and that it means business. Again, that’s probably not accurate, but it’s a good way to tell you that stuff is happening. That and a better external sound would just be cool.

RE: BMS 4.34 sound mod?
Basically I’m just looking for any mods that are known to work with 4.34 that I could try, if I don’t like it, I’ll uninstall it.

RE: BMS 4.34 sound mod?
Yeah, I got the opportunity to fire a TOW missile while at the range. It will obviously be vastly different from the way a pilot would experience a missile launch IRL, however the point remains the same just based on how sound works. Low frequency sounds, particularly powerful ones like those from a rocket motor or simply vibrations from movement, would be present in the cockpit IRL, though probably dampened to the point of being almost inaudible given external air movement, engine noise, helmet and o2 mask noise, and just sheer bulk of material between the missile and the pilot. Now, I don’t know for sure but I think I can safely assume that while they might not hear it they would probably feel it. Given this is a simulation, we as players cannot feel it so it has to be represented through sound, which it is. However, I think that it would be most likely that if you were to hear anything from a launching missile it would be more low frequency sound rather than the high frequency whoosh that exists in the game today.
All that said, my whole point of this thread was to hopefully find a decent sound mod that might be available, not to try and change someone’s thought or understanding of the current system. Mostly because, while I think that the current sound isn’t very impactful or well represented to the player, it may very well be accurate. So I’m not wanting to have the default changed so much as just find something that works for me.

RE: BMS 4.34 sound mod?
My point is, while something may be “wrong”, it conveys something to the player and the current sounds of the game do not convey the proper “weight” to their actions.

RE: BMS 4.34 sound mod?
I have actually fired a missile IRL, not in an F16 and also not an a2a missile, but a missile none the less. And even given its co2 launch mechanism, you could still feel/hear the rocket motor ignite from the inside of a locked up Brad. That’s also to say nothing of the thud associated with the launch of an at4. Now I know these are 2 very different examples, but the idea is the same. The high frequency whoosh from a missile launch would likely be dampened but the rush of moving air along the rest of the aircraft as well as the aircraft itself, while it’s a lot more likely that low frequency sounds would permeate the cockpit allowing you to hear it.

RE: BMS 4.34 sound mod?
I get what you’re saying. But I definitely subscribe to the thought that since we can’t actually feel what’s going on with the jet that it has to be supplemented with what we can experience. I feel there is a fine line between boosting the audio cues that the pilot would receive and just making movie sound effects. This is the line I would like to walk, and while some of the sounds are decent in bms, I feel like some of the frequency ranges that accentuated are not ideal. For example, you would like not hear the woosh from a launching missile but you would feel/hear the low frequencies from the rocket motor igniting and the missile leaving the rail. These low frequency sounds while dampened in the cockpit, would still be audible/felt and are not the effect that seems boosted in bms. In all honesty the cannon is probably fine, but missile launches definitely don’t feel/sound right. Then there are the external cockpit sounds, which aren’t really important but are more just quality of life. Other sounds in the pit like the vortexes from high AoA are great, even the engine sound isn’t terrible, but it could definitely be tweaked to be a bit more immersive yet not exit the bounds of what would be at least somewhat realistic. I was just curious if anyone knew of any sound mods that would make the game a better in that regard

BMS 4.34 sound mod?
Does anyone know of a good sound mod for BMS 4.34? I can’t seem to find any on an initial search of Google or the forums. Even an older version that still works with 4.34 would be fine. I just want something with a lot more ooomph to it, the exterior engine sounds, the missile launches, even the cannon seem very underwhelming to me in the stock bms sound file. But if I can say any for BMS, it’s that you cannot underestimate the community. Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: Is there a way to set a button on my HOTAS as a modifier?
Bumping this thread as I have the same HOTAS and question as OP. Would like to know if he ever found a solution to this outside of the target software (not a fan, very not user friendly)
