Hi All
Day 5 of Rolling Fire and the silence is killing me. As y’all know, by this point in the campaign packages are mostly single flight missions so besides me and wingie there’s not much to hear (even when Red suddenly gets air reinforcements and the airwar steps up a gear again). I’m (fairly…kinda…maybe) sure when I used to play Falcon back in the AF day there was lots more ‘noise’ from other flights around you calling AWACs and so forth, but if I understand correctly, there was a change in the game’s comms structure made a while back that gives each package its own uniform frequency with AWACs (please don’t flame me if I’m wrong). Knowing the raison d’etre of Falcon BMS is realism, I assume this is how it works in real life, but from a gaming (?!!) perspective, it feels like an immersion breaker as it diminishes the sense of ‘being in a war’ which was so gripping when I played F4 in the past. Is a ‘common Uniform Channel 6’ option (or at least having multiple packages on one frequency) a stupid wish?
I’m guessing the answer to all this is: ‘that’s how it is, so suck it up’.
Inevitably after crafting my post I found this thread: AWACS/COMMS discussion which mentions lots of stuff related to my post (and lack of pro-active AWACS - a well known and reported/discussed bug).
