@Dracfalcon:
What you were doing initially with the testing is to make sure the server and tablet are communicating. Once you have verified communication, from that point on, you only have to start the Server and Apk and go. Do not go through the testing again.
Ok, thatās the confirmation I was looking for. Itās also what I said in a previous post so I donāt know why you didnāt just confirm what I said then ha ha
@Hyp3rion:
No definitely in the MFD server application on the PC, under the testing section. Unless specifying the IP in this area is only for testing the actual connection and that data is transmitting but otherwise the tablet app makes the necessary connection to the PC. Makes sense thinking about it that way since the PC is āservingā and so you only need to point the tablet to the server, not the other way around. The instructions for installing are a little cryptic so it wasnāt exactly clear if this setting was required for use every time (attached particular section in question).
Thanks for clarifying that for me
Komurcu, I think the documentation could use a slight update ;). Step 5 of the single tablet simple instructions (that come after the initial installation instructions) specify to verify the Android IP address is correct which is under the Testing Part area of the MFD Server. If this field is blank each time when starting the MFD Server, the only way to verify this field is to in fact re-enter the tabletās IP address, even though as confirmed by Dracfalcon this is not necessary.
The only time I would think youād need to do this is if your tablet IP actually changes because you are using DHCP (and itās IP lease has expired, therefore your router / switch will assign it a new and most likely different IP address) and not static IP addresses on your local network. Even then, I am thinking that as long as the tablet points correctly to the server IP then itās still not necessary to set that field unless wanting to actually test the connection from the server end.
Iām an IT tech and so understand how this all works but I canāt know how the MFD server application itself works (since I didnāt code it) without reading the documentation and in this instance I feel it is a little misleading in trying to understand the essential configuration required for the tablet app to communicate with the server application.
Please take this as constructive feedback. For something that someone has created in their own time though as a free enhancement on this great game, itās without a doubt a brilliant effort
