Hi.
No Falcon BMS pilot out there can deny all the hard work that you’ve put into creating, updating, maintaining the documentation about Falcon BMS (I am learning by reading PDFs, there is there is a heap of information to digest but all I can say is that they are very instructive and precise).
However, there’s been a recurrent question on Discord servers and on forums to know if the BMS documentation is available in foreign languages, translated in the player’s native language.
There are several unofficial (though, extremely useful) translations performed by BMS fans but they all are split up on different forums.
Hence this suggestion:
Could you please consider allowing your community (BMS players) help translate the different documentation files (PDFs) as part of a community translation project?
The number of questions (requests) regarding the availability of a documentations in other languages makes me think that you won’t have trouble finding volunteers to contribute to such “community translation project”.
To accomplish this, may I suggest to use Weblate?
This is an online (& open-source) platform that allows contributors worldwide to participate in the translation of softwares/games in other languages.
Just like Wordpress, there is a premium hosting plan but the most interesting part is that it is also possible to install and use Weblate for free:
https://weblate.org/
https://docs.weblate.org/en/latest/
https://github.com/WeblateOrg/weblate
Example for SiriL, an Astronomy Processing Software:
https://siril.org/docs/
https://weblate.pixls.us/projects/siril/siril-application/
This example shows that it would be possible to have a online documentation while still allowing the BMS player download the PDFs.
What do you think of such “documentation translation system”?
