@suhkoi69 Even if we had the value, Tacview does not support it currently. I will add to our list to experiment with indicated altitude to see if we can support it in the future. Thanks for the suggestion.

@suhkoi69 Hi, I think you are right, the 16 HUD displays the barometric altitude which is not taken into account in Tacview.

@suhkoi69 Hi, can I share this file with members of the Falcon team and possibly on the bug report forums?

@suhkoi69 Off the top of my head I am not sure - can you please share the ACMI file?

RE: tacview-filter: A tool for shrinking ACMI files
@mrkline said in tacview-filter: A tool for shrinking ACMI files:
From the experiments we’ve ran, things mostly seem CPU-bound, not GPU-bound. This makes a lot of sense - I assume Tacview is spending most of its efforts interpolating positions of the objects in the world, and drawing can be done fairly cheaply once you’ve calculated those.
Once you pare down the input to the sample rates the website suggests (https://www.tacview.net/documentation/realtime/en/), it can handle a 30+ player mission across the entire KTO quite well. That’s what this tool aims to do.
Thanks for this!

Hi, Tacview 2.0 is currently in development: https://tacview.net/documentation/tacview2faq/
Great to hear! Hopefully all of us that currently have a license will be able to upgrade at a reduced cost!
If you have a Tacview 1 license, it will be compatible with Tacview 2 for desktop editions (Windows, macOS, and Linux). This means you can enjoy the same advanced features you’re used to, along with improved ergonomics, performance, and detail at no additional cost. Over time, we will introduce new advanced features, which you can access by upgrading your existing license.
Please note that iOS and Android versions of Tacview 2 will require separate licenses, as they involve significant development work and will be available on different app stores than the desktop editions.

I still consider that tacview should use a true optimized 3d rendering engine…
This tool isn’t displaying that many objects compared to an actual 3D game…
This has been the case like forever but I don’t know if @Vyrtuoz or @BuzyBee will ever find a way to improve this.
I do agree this is badly needed as even a 7900xtx and a 7800x3d struggle with it.

@VIPER-0 The Tacview dev team is aware that the coordinates do not match exactly. This is because Falcon BMS is a 2D world and Tacview is a 3D world. Tacview uses a formula to calculate longitude and latitude from Falcon’s x,y coordinates: https://tacview.fandom.com/wiki/User_Guide_–_Falcon_4.0#How_to_convert_Falcon_4.0_coordinates_in_Tacview_longitude/latitude?
By the way, all telemetry is calculated based on Falcon BMS x,y coordinates, so that part is not affected.
Now that Falcon BMS team is writing the ACMI themselves maybe this is an opportunity for them to export the actual longitude and latitude. We will reach out them about it.
Thanks for the report.

Falcon BMS 4.37 Vanilla
KTOdoes not match the Lat and Long coordinates of the simulator with those of TACVIEW, terrain in Falcon 4.0 and coordinates compatible with the BMS format.
Hi, can you please share your ACMI or VHS file with a corresponding in-game screenshot and timestamp?

@suhkoi69 Thanks for sending your analysis by email. I realized that these values will differ because Tacview does not take into account the temperature and atmospheric pressure. The Falcon BMS team could consider exporting these values (MACH, CAS, IAS). We will mention it to our contact on the dev team.

RE: Tacview – Understand what happened during your last flight! (alternative ACMI viewer)
@suhkoi69 Thanks for reporting this. First please make sure you have selected Falcon terrain in Tacview. This could help with the calculations and especially the altitude.
Also could you please share an ACMI file and report which telemetry values are not matching up at which timestamps, and by how much? For altitude please specify AGL or ASL and for speed please specify TAS, CAS or IAS.
You can send the info to [email protected] if you like.

@white_fang I honestly don’t believe that you will see any difference if you do turn off the MSAA x 4. In all of our testing we do not see any difference. That’s why there is currently no option to turn it off.
If you are experiencing poor performance during real time telemetry, such as lag or low frame rates, I would love to know more about it. If so, please share an ACMI or VHS file.
OK . How to turn OFF AA ?
FINE we will add an option in the next beta /MSAA:false (available in the next beta only)

@jc1 Tacview should have understood that the INI file was intended for use with the ACMI file that was currently open. Thanks for reporting this bug.
