Tacview – Understand what happened during your last flight! (alternative ACMI viewer)
-
@white_fang I honestly don’t believe that you will see any difference if you do turn off the MSAA x 4. In all of our testing we do not see any difference. That’s why there is currently no option to turn it off.
If you are experiencing poor performance during real time telemetry, such as lag or low frame rates, I would love to know more about it. If so, please share an ACMI or VHS file.
-
@jc1 Tacview should have understood that the INI file was intended for use with the ACMI file that was currently open. Thanks for reporting this bug.

FINE we will add an option in the next beta /MSAA:false (available in the next beta only)

@BuzyBee (Thank You)
-
@BuzyBee the tacview data don’t match with those in game
at the same time, we have some differences with altitude , speed , mach number
case 1
case 2
-
@suhkoi69 Thanks for reporting this. First please make sure you have selected Falcon terrain in Tacview. This could help with the calculations and especially the altitude.
Also could you please share an ACMI file and report which telemetry values are not matching up at which timestamps, and by how much? For altitude please specify AGL or ASL and for speed please specify TAS, CAS or IAS.
You can send the info to [email protected] if you like.
-
here the terrain doesn’t change the altitude value : I compared the Altitude ASL
-
@suhkoi69 Thanks for sending your analysis by email. I realized that these values will differ because Tacview does not take into account the temperature and atmospheric pressure. The Falcon BMS team could consider exporting these values (MACH, CAS, IAS). We will mention it to our contact on the dev team.

Falcon BMS 4.37 Vanilla
KTOdoes not match the Lat and Long coordinates of the simulator with those of TACVIEW, terrain in Falcon 4.0 and coordinates compatible with the BMS format.
Can you confirm if someone has the same problem?

Here is the campaign and the acmi file, as you can see the aircraft moves and points directly over the patriot rdr installation, there the lat and long were taken in the sim and then compared in the acmi.Let me know if you need anything else. I hope it’s helpful. we need those coordinates to match to do accurate debriefing on our wing.
-
@Dee-Jay - I once got to play fight controller on a RL TACTS Range at MCAS Yuma, AZ and watch two RL Harriers do ACM against one another. TACVIEW looks VERY much like the Range displays I got to work with, and I’m a big fan of TACVIEW.
I did this op in around 1987, so RL is way ahead of the …er…game. TACVIEW rawks.
-
@VIPER-0 The Tacview dev team is aware that the coordinates do not match exactly. This is because Falcon BMS is a 2D world and Tacview is a 3D world. Tacview uses a formula to calculate longitude and latitude from Falcon’s x,y coordinates: https://tacview.fandom.com/wiki/User_Guide_–_Falcon_4.0#How_to_convert_Falcon_4.0_coordinates_in_Tacview_longitude/latitude?
By the way, all telemetry is calculated based on Falcon BMS x,y coordinates, so that part is not affected.
Now that Falcon BMS team is writing the ACMI themselves maybe this is an opportunity for them to export the actual longitude and latitude. We will reach out them about it.
Thanks for the report.
-
@BuzyBee grateful for your prompt response, greetings to you and the entire tacview team, we in our wing use it every day, a phenomenal tool.
I know the BMS team will get to work, so it’s just a matter of waiting.
GREETINGS.

Tacview 1.9.2 is available now!
Download: https://tacview.net/download
• Release Date: Thu, 8 Jun 2023
• Operating System: Windows 32-bit / 64-bit
• File Size: 750.4 MBTo help you wait during Tacview 2 development, here is a brand-new maintenance update for Tacview 1.9.
As always, with better support for your favorite flight simulators as well as real life data. There are also minor improvements to the stability and performances based on your feedback.
We thank you for your precious feedback. Your requests and suggestions are always taken into consideration. While some might not make it into Tacview 1, they are certainly considered to be part of Tacview 2 from the ground up.
Speaking of Tacview 2: The new architecture, multiplatform UI and Vulkan renderer are now running well (including Linux). We are currently working on the brand-new terrain engine. This is the last difficult point of the project to “prototype”. After that, everything should take shape more quickly. We are eager to reach a point where we can deliver a first closed alpha to begin large scale testing and feedback gathering.
Fly safe!
