RE: MFDE not saving position after replacing monitor***SOLVED***
@MudDog It’s a long shot, but did you reboot after turning it off? That’s what solved some monitor issues for me.

@MudDog Are you using HDR on the monitor? Doing that does weird things for me…

RE: Mitsubishi F-1/T-2
@Radium こんにちは あんど お疲れ様です!
I’m not ex-JASDF, I was a contractor to them, as an interpreter/translator plus helping pilots with language. I worked at the base in Hamamatsu, which is mostly T4/AWACs, but the T2s did come occasionally, and the F2s and F15s well (there is an engine maintenance facility and maintenance school here). I never got to see an operational F1 up close but they have decommissioned ones here on-base that I’ve sat in and had a really good up-close look at. If you need any pictures etc, please let me know, as the air museum with hands-on access to those jets is a 15-minute bicycle ride from my house.
F-1CCVの完成品を楽しみにしております!!
(for non-Japanese readers all we did was say hi, basically!)

RE: Mitsubishi F-1/T-2
Oh WOW! Just found this. I used to work for the JASDF (Japan Air Self Defense Force) a few years back, and had the opportunity for a few close encounters. They’re very cool aircraft…

RE: TrackIR issue
Hmm. That does sound a bit strange. Drivers? Or… do you wear glasses? If the room is dark and your glasses are reflecting bright light off your monitor, things can get weird. Where do you have the track IR mounted?
As @skippermike says, try opening the tracking page on the TrackIR app next time this happens and see if you can see ANYTHING other than the three dots on your tracking screen.

RE: TrackIR issue
What Icer said. Check for open doors behind you, or light being reflected off the window. You’ll probably be surprised at what you find.

RE: New TrackIR mount
Hmm. Depending on volume it might be better for me to just walk down the road and and find engineering firms (not like there is a shortage of them in Japan!!). We’ll see. If 20 people front up and say they one I’ll start looking… so if you want one, spread the word!!

RE: New TrackIR mount
Hi guys,
Surprised by all the interest, although perhaps not, given the shoddy mounts that Naturalpoint supplies!
As it stands, I THINK this will only fit the TrackIR 4 and 5, since the mounting for the camera itself isn’t a clamp, but a screw in fitting with four screws that hold if firmly in place: this means that there is zero unwanted movement of the camera itself once fitted.
As far as manufacturing goes, I would probably get it made in China and shipped directly from there, or delivered to me here in Japan (where I’ve been living for the past 30 years), from where I’d ship it onward. Shipping to Japan is very cheap so I don’t think that would add to the costs much. We would need to get quite a few people together to make it worthwhile.
Actually he’s making some desk mounts for my HOTAS right now, so I’ll post some pics of those when he’s done too! I’m simply amazed at the difference between the stuff he makes and the build quality of the commercial stuff I’ve bought over the years–this is way better.

RE: New TrackIR mount
If you guys are serious, get enough people together and we’ll do a run of them. I’m loathe to ask my mate to make them himself but we have the engineering designs, the working prototype (mine!), and the contacts to get them made for us. Dunno pricing though. Given where I live and our contacts I can probably get them made at a reasonable cost if we can do a bulk run. This isn’t 3D printed… it’s CCD milled (mate designed, built, and coded his own mill…)

RE: New TrackIR mount
@CriticalMass It’s REALLY nice and very adjustable. Made of steel and engineering plastic too so way better quality than… almost anything else I own! Told him we should sell them!

New TrackIR mount
So, fed up with the second mount I purchased for my trackIR 5 not matching my monitor, and having to deal with the consequent flapping and flopping all over the place I asked my buddy (who is a PhD in mechatronics engineering and builds and prototypes all kinds of cool things, including stuff for spacecraft) to come up with something.
Ooh boy did he deliver. Tis a thing of beauty. Rock solid, adjustable, and fits on just about anything. Tried it out on BMS today and man do I owe him a beer! Would upload an image but can’t figure out how to do it!

RE: Japanese Translation Project
Let me know if anything is unclear. I’m a commercial Japanese to English translator (I don’t do E>J professionally), but I can help out if there’s anything you don’t understand.
