also DCS world is working, Mariana has weird texture glitches but Persian Gulf and Syria and Caucasus work great!
p.s will end up making a youtube tutorial to help us linux guys ( Im new to linux ) so I am quite proud to share what has been achieved with the seed planted by alot of you guys

How I got Falcon BMS on Linux
Hello my fellow BMS friends! I am not the best at writing up any sort of guide but these are the steps/things I did to get Falcon bms running on linux. REMEMBER performance wont be as good as windows as of now since linux has to translate dx to dxvk.
First off, get yourself a PAID copy of Falcon 4.0 ( I have a GOG version/Steam Version ) Steam will work but out of both I found that the exe version GOG provide makes it easier for the tools available to make all of this easier
Distro: Linux Mint* 6.2 kernel
Nvidia graphics card running 535 driversthings needed
- LUTRIS ( Im using flathub version )
- WINE
- WINETRICKS
- PAID FALCON 4.0 COPY
- Falcon BMS Installer EXE
—optional OPEN TRACK—
- latest exe on opentrack github
–Install Lutris–
1.Open lutris and add game
2. install windows game from exe
3. under game name FALCON 4.0 hit install
4 install wine setup file
5. “select install directory” essentially will be where the prefix will be made (makes a -C: drive which ill explain the importance in the future so as this “install directory” keep everything in your home drive or the same HD to prevent any issues since I have a 1TB main drive it went into my /home/username folder.
6. select setup file " this is the FALCON 4.0 EXE hit install.after this FALCON 4.0 should be installed BEFORE LAUNCHING ! make sure you have these windows components installed in that prefix. which you can do NOW easily by going to lutris and clicking the little UP arrow next to the winebottle and hit winetricks. then select default prefix now youll see the option to install a windows component. and the one i have installed are as followed
d3dcompiler_43
d3dcompiler_47
d3dx11_43
d3dx9
d3dx9_43
dotnet40
dotnet45
dotnet46
dotnet48
dxvk
vcrun2022i wont be getting into how to install those if you get errors, I am sorry in advance.
- NOW run falcon4.0 via lutris for the first time get to the menu and close game. now time to install falcon bms
Falcon bms install
Hopefully by this time you have aquired the falcon bms full installer exe-
open lutris and hit add game
-
game name Falcon BMS hit next
-
install wine setup file
4.“select installation directory” VERY IMPORTANT to make it EXACTLY the same directory as the falcon 4.0 since NOW both will share the prefix !!! so if you did for example /home/pc/Falcon make this installation directory the SAME! or this will not work because we are trying to install everything in the same “emulated computer” is what i think a prefix is. -
select set up file… falcon bms full installer exe. and now let it install click for it to install the h264 i believe its called and directx… or what ever other option it said but just incase if theyre needed they will be in the install directory of falcon bms.

For some reason the update the game after install is finished always hangs when the CMD promt opens no worries will get to updating the game with alternate launcher in a second. close it all out and hit finish installation on the lutris install
-
after installation finished for some reason lutris will default the exes to falcon 4.0 so to fix this hit falcon bms and click configure. click game options and under executable hit brows and look for the alternate launcher exe and save.
falcon bms is now ready and installed open alternate launcher and update your game and have fun !!
open track is quite easy to install do the same process which by now i think you guys got the hang of it and add it as a game, install the exe. before launcher make sure you edit the executable to the opentrack.exe ( as said earlier it defaults back to the falcon 4.0.exe for some reason)
please be kind if this isnt the best but i wrote down all of this as i got ahead on figuring stuff out and both falcon bms and tracking using track ir and a ps3 eye camera from grassmonkey are working great. i do hope this helps and i take no credit all of this was from skimming and falling into a rabbit hole on accomplishing something i failed hard before to do. and found better and easier ways to get it done with tools now available. if any question please feel free to ask ill try my best to answer!
CHEERS to my favorite sim community !

RE: Well done BMS team and MicroProse
As always with every update the BMS team, we are thankful for your hard work. I’ll repeat myself thank you this feels like a big major release. But just an incremental third update to the great .37 hats off to all.

RE: News from the frontline, 4.37.3 delayed (and explained)
@Seifer thank you for the update, being very transparent in all fronts.
I feel like update 3 is coming really fast, I’m not even done with a desert storm campaign I’m running. Take the time needed we’ve all learn that the wait for any release here is well worth it.
Thank you and all whom are behind this beautiful Sim we all love.

RE: Questions about DEAD mission.

But with AI, normaly AI in AG role, is not going to fight against enemy planes, as you are the only human in there, you must asume what is best.
I feel this is not correct, if you give the order W4 (Weapons free A/A) then they will very often go after Bandits. If not, try “drop stores” to wingman, element or whole flight if you understand the dog fight is impossible not to fight to survive.
Also if you lock an air target and link it over to wingman or element followed by the order Attack my target, they will respond.
this is true, due to time limitations I am forever bound to SP campaigns.
AI wingmen 3 or 4 are always protecting me. specially when making the Weapons free AA call -
RE: Yet another update from the frontlines... 4.37 U3 progress
@Seifer Thank you for the update! Cheers BMS team.

RE: all types of f-16's cockpit and sounds files mod
@sheref don’t be bothered by him, seen a couple post lately with people having bad taste in “jokes” alot of us appreciate it. time is valuable so I myself am grateful for gentlemen/women who mod.
