It is comparing BMS favourably to DCS in so much that it has things like the dynamic campaign, but yes, is mostly a complaint about DCS marketing strategy.

RE: SERIOUSLY!?!
Who kicked their ass the first time BuzzU? I think the ass kicking was pretty mutual considering the adversary still occupies half the country.
I wonder if there was a massive spike in sales of LED strips from Amazon recently?

RE: BMS 000- Benchmark Test Results.
Same Here:
defaultF4 GFX settings for quality etc. 32 to 34fps on the Runway, going up to about 55 as I get airborne & fly circuits. GFX at default, NVidia settings moderate AA (4x) In windowed mode - with display extraction, this drops to about 23 on the runway, and about 44fps in the air. In an empty world, with clear blue skies I get about 55fps.GTX 1070, i7 3770k @ 3.5/4.0Ghz 16Ghz Kingston KHX1866 DDR3 RAM, Win 10 Pro 64bit. 2560x1440 monitor used for main 3d display (Windows Desktop is running 4 in total).
Can’t say that I have optimized it at all, it runs fine normally, apart from an occasional stutter when something explodes nearby!

RE: Slight bug in 4.34 F16 cockpit lighting
Forget the offset text. It seems to have cured itself. I did a GFX driver update shortly after posting - perhaps that was the issue? However, the illuminated switch bases remain. It’s more of a quirk now than a bug.
The variant is the F-16B-15 Trainer used in the Training Missions3. Also the CM-52. Maybe others.

RE: Falcon BMS 4.34 Changes you noticed.
A few quick blasts in the Istant Action scenario seems to show that the AI have a bit more of a self preservation instinct than previously.

Although you might want to copy one or two config files from the old installation first.

RE: Still no tobii eye tracker 4c support for BMS ?
FaceTrackNoIR has a setting to use Tobii. Have you tried that? I can’t imagine that eye tracking is going to work that well when your eyes are darting about all over the place, or does it do face tracking too?
Dee-Jay: It’s a sort of detector bar, that comes as a standalone device or, often, built into the screen bezel of some laptops. It allows you to move cursors and whatnot with your gaze. I think that in general, your game has to support it - I’m guessing that FaceTrackNoIR must “intercept” the signal - and turn it into the normal type of headtracker signal that sims can use - like TrackIR.

RE: New Cockpit Pilot Model
Soldano: As darkman says - those commands only work in the 3d world. ALt+c gets you into the Key Combo mode, then you press a key shown on the keyboard layout, in this case, p for Pilot. Others are shown in the manual and on the Keyboard layout: EG Alt+c then F to display Frame Counter onscreen.

Slight bug in 4.34 F16 cockpit lighting
As mentioned in the title, when panel back lighting is on using the R/H Console Primary Lighting rotary, then most of the centre and left hand console illuminated text is offset by a few pixels, making it look somewhat odd.
The Right hand console green text is aligned perfectly & replaces the white text as expected. In addition, a number of the associated switch bases are illuminated in green, on the right, centre and left consoles. I suspect that being made of metal, they should not be illuminated - I may be wrong. I have never sat in an F-16 with the panels lit up.
Otherwise - it’s going swimmingly.

RE: You're on glideslope!
because we’ll all be dead when 4.43 goes out
Methinks you need to press F5 more often chum Was already running it before I posted that…. [EDIT] Oh I see what I did :redface:
Be careful copying stuff across from your old setup chaps. The BMS manual is pretty specific about what is and what is not compatible.

RE: You're on glideslope!
Why are you still here instead of running 4.43?

RE: Blank MFds when entering 3d online
I get the gfx glitches you mention after a longish offline mission or about an hours flying, if that doesn’t happen, I might just get a loss of fps. I do lose MFDs, but not controllers. I just restart the sim and carry on.
I’m using a Warthog HOTAS using a Target script, but do also have a X52pro throttle attached, which is used for extra buttons, but no script running for it. Also on Win 10 with a GTX 970 GFX card running 3 monitors and an HD4000 rinning a 4th for Instrument extraction.Other than the essentially 1 mission limit this imposes, the sim runs very smoothly. I do recall reading something about it being best to restart after every mission a while back, maybe it’s worth a search to see if you can find it.

RE: Can AI choose my missions for me?
When I was on NATO Cross Servicing in RAF Germany during the 80s, we turned around various NATO fighter/strike types such as Mirage V, F-16, F-4, F-104 and Jaguar, and the times allowed from stop to taxy out were something like 50 to 90 minutes (it was a long time ago and memory fails on the exact time allowed). This included refuelling, carrying out a turn-round servicing (oils, gas, kick tyres, various checks, cockpit & weapons made safe, and making sure nothing has dropped off), Brake chute replacement where necessary, one guy servicing while the other refuelled, then rearming, which usually consisted of gun reloading (pretending to at least), adding a couple of 1000lb bombs or sidewinders, perhaps chaff n flares (don’t recall), followed by a startup, liney dance, which might take 15 minutes, depending on aircraft, INS warmup etc, and marshall out. That was usually done with 2 people, 1 fuel bowser driver, and a couple of armourers to load the bangy stuff (yes all in the same place). I don’t recall it ever taking any longer than the allotted time, and was usually done quickly enough that we had to sit around waiting for the pilot to get his arse out to the aircraft. F-16s were definitely the quickest and easiest of all to deal with. The slowest, probably the F-4. I imagine that in a real fighting war, it might be done faster if necessary, although some things just can’t be made faster, and the times in DCS are far shorter. It only takes them about 3 minutes to completely repair your missing wing, shot up instruments and burnt out engine, while simultaneously refuelling and rearming…

RE: Begging for help, ready to give up.
I’m not sure if it was mentioned earlier in the thread, and exactly how CH controllers work with the Keyfile editor, and CH software, but I did find that with TM Warthog Target software, which combines Throttle and stick into one controller, the setup was a bit messed up in how DX calls were handled for the stick/throttle, though it is very useful to see how key commands are set up, and for editing them. As mentioned before, the best way of editing the keystroke file is by loading it into Notepad++ or similar.
Most of the keyfiles are heavily commented, so that helps a lot. It also used to be the case that setting keystrokes in-game deleted all your formatting and comments. I’m not 100% sure, but I think that was fixed in the latest release, so it may be worth a play with that, do some setting up and reload the file (always back up) into a text editor to see if things are as you expected.
Another Major point to be aware of, if you aren’t already, is to use the ACTUAL RL control functions as much as possible… IE TMS, DMS, CMS etc , so rather than a separate key or button press for Lock Target, you map the button to TMS UP, which can have several commands associated with it in the sim, depending on the current Mode.
In your .key file there will be 2 entries for that command
First of all something like this for the keystroke itself that shows what command is mapped to what keystoke. In my case, SHIFT+Home :-
SimTMSUp -1 0 0xC7 1 0 0 1 “STICK: TMS Up”And then, in the last half of the file, dealing with stick, throttle and other controllers, the entry that tells BMS which controller button Calls the TMS UP command. In this case it is DX6 (Button 7 on my stick in BMS - this is always 1 more than DX).
Just bear that in mind if you are swapping between editing in BMS and in a text editor or the Keyfile Editor.
SimTMSUp 6 8 -2 0 0x0 0 -
RE: How to program GLANCE FORWARD and CHECK SIX in T.A.R.G.E.T sofware?
You could just assign the button to keys in the Keyfile.key rather than via Script/Target
Then they hold as long as you press the button.
Mine are on the NUM PgUp & PgDn keys._#keystrokes
OTWGlanceForward -1 0 0x49 1 0 0 1 “VIEWINT: Glance Forward”
OTWCheckSix -1 0 0x51 1 0 0 1 “VIEWINT: Glance Backward”#Throttle controller Coolie Hat Up & Down
OTWCheckSix 21 8 -2 0 0x0 0
OTWGlanceForward 23 8 -2 0 0x0 0_In Target, It should work with Hold set. The Above example for CheckSix on Coolie Hat up would read:-
EventName: checksix
Key Command: KP9
Type: Hold
Delay: Default
Sequence: unchecked
I haven’t tried it in Game, but it works in the Event Tester.
The Script Line looks like this: MapKey(&Throttle, CSU, KP9);BTW, Checksix works fine in the 3d Pit.

RE: Falcon BMS 4.33 U1 - Script don't work correct in this update.
DeviceSorting.txt is a godsend. Especially in Windows 10.
It’s all in the new manual BTW. Pages 49 & 50.

RE: 4.33.1 will release shortly: what you need to know and how to be prepared
<lurk>For those on Win 10: I installed the original 1998 CD labelled “MP193 302 D01R (ENGLISH)” on Windows 10 Pro 64bit. Didn’t think about admin rights or Compatibility mode. It just worked. The only change I made was to put somewhere other than the C drive.
Maybe the particular version of the CD is causing problems for some Win 10 Users? This one was bought straight after the release of the sim in the UK.
Mind you I wasn’t at all surprised that the Falcon4.0 app itself wouldn’t run after install, but that’s not something I need to worry about, since the current BMS is already installed.
That aside, congratulations to BMS on a job well done. I can’t wait to see the new version of BMS, and the threads that will fill up asking how to turn off the splashscreen, and the where can I get a copy of F4.0 even though it is mentioned on every other post…
