Hopefully, the new version will allow you to switch between flights by right clicking a plane on the 2d map and then clicking join flight. This would be great for doing fighter sweeps and thinning out enemy aircraft numbers.

I partially disagree with myself here. I admit I haven’t tested whether changing the PAKs messes up the ATO in creating barcap missions. Changing the PAKs to focus flights near the FLOT and then branching out is good campaign strategy and worth trying. My focus was rather narrow of just trying to get the most barcaps and defend airbases -not minimizing allied losses or winning the campaign.
But I have noticed that the ATO is rather finicky about setting things a certain way- or it messes up mission creation to do what one wants it to do. I recommend that the best place to start is with the mission settings of offensive counter air to the left and deep strikes to the left and defensive counter air all the way to the right. You can then try other things in the mission or target tabs and see what happens.
I tried both setting all the mission sliders except for defensive counter air to the left and defensive counter air to the right. I then tried just offensive counter air and anti shipping to the left and leaving everything else alone; and then setting defensive counter air to the right. The ATO has something peculiar about it. The second way seems better. But again I am just focusing on creating the most barcaps- not winning the campaign.

How to get the campaign(ATO) to successfully defend all 4 airbases in Iron Fortress
Go to priorities. In the mission tab, move the offensive counter air and deep strikes all the way to the left. Move defensive counter air all the way to the right. This will make the dynamic campaign engine generate a whole screen of barcaps.
Don’t change anything else including anything in the targets tab, anything in the PAKs, or any other thing in the mission tab. Changing anything else will actually make the campaign engine generate less barcaps. Not only that, you want the campaign engine to generate lots of other missions in order to get planes in the air. Missions other then barcaps will do double duty and also defend the airbase.
This can also be used to increase the amount of air to air resistance for OCA strikes. Go into a red squadron and change the priorities to the above settings to get more enemy barcaps and enemy resistance.
Changing the priorities to the above also might create Tarcap missions for things other than OCA strikes. I notice that Tarcap missions are created for interdiction missions as well, which means they get defended-which is a cool thing the ATO does.
When you’re ready to attack enemy airbases, change the offensive counter air priority in the missions tab an extremely tiny bit to the right to start. Then if that’s not enough, change the offensive counter air priority more to the right.

More barcaps. Friendly airbases go undefended and get bombed. And it happens to multiple airbases.
Furthermore enemy airbases are largely undefended. This is even worse in non-Korea campaigns. Enemy air resistance is terrible in the Israeli campaign. You can make it all the way to the red camp Sayqal airbase with only a couple enemy fighters standing in your way.
I tried the workaround for this of Dee-Jay’s of moving the sliders up for OCA strikes and defensive counter air and up for aircraft in the target tab. This makes more barcap missions in the Israeli theater. However, the air to air resistance is still low. In the Korea campaign, I don’t see more barcaps. It just doesn’t respond to you changing the priority sliders.
BMS 4 is the superior simulation. However, because of the lack of air to air resistance and barcaps I end up being forced to play the falcon 4 Allied Force Israeli Mk2 campaign.

Takeoff times for the missions in the air tasking order. This would allow you to browse and choose one that occurs close to the current time.

1. More SAMs visible on 2d map. When picked up by a harm, they should be shown on 2d map next mission.
2. Takeoff times visible in air tasking order like in F4 Allied Force.
3. More barcaps generated in dynamic campaign engine like in F4 Allied Force Isreali Mk2 campaign.
4. Ability to join a flight by clicking a plane on 2d map like in F4 Allied Force.
