What did you think of the way grayout/blackout was modelled in the original Falcon 4.0? I can’t get Falcon 4.0 to work on my computer, and it was a long time ago since I flew the sim. But I remember that you would blackout quickly when pulling 9 Gs.

Original Falcon 4.0 F-16C Fuel Consumption
Was the fuel consumption of the original Falcon 4.0 F-16C at MIL and AB power very accurate? Or was this something that needed to be corrected?
Thanks,

Extending Flaps at High Speed
Just a question regarding how this should be modelled in a flight sim.
Let’s say you are flying a fighter in a sim, and the fighter has take-off flaps that can only be deployed below 250 KIAS. If the fighter is flying at, say, 400 KIAS, and you lower the take-off flaps, what should happen in the sim? In real life what would probably happen to the flaps? Would they rip off? Could the aircraft become unstable and could the pilot lose control?

RE: Roll Speed at Supersonic Airspeeds
Let’s say a particular fighter aircraft can sustain a 7G turn at 500 KIAS at low altitude. And let’s say the fighter has a very fast roll at 500 KIAS. But, if the pilot was pulling 7Gs, and while pulling 7Gs he pushed the stick all the way to the left for a max roll, wouldn’t his roll be much slower at 500 KIAS because his AOA is higher because he is pulling 7Gs?
So when a fighter is pulling Gs, AOA increases, and thus because of the higher AOA roll rate decreases?

RE: Roll Speed at Supersonic Airspeeds
Thank you, Alfred.
Regarding roll rate at subsonic airspeeds, is the reason why roll speed keeps increasing and increasing as airspeed increases because:
- faster air moving over the wings
and
- decrease in AOA
Do both of these contribute to the increase in roll rate?

Roll Speed at Supersonic Airspeeds
As a fighter increases its airspeed when subsonic, its roll will get faster and faster.
But will supersonic flight typically causes a fighter’s roll speed to decrease?

AOA When Pulling Gs
If a fighter is at a particular airspeed and altitude, flying at 1G, it will be flying at a particular AOA. If the pilot pulled 2Gs and remained at the same airspeed and altitude, is it possible to determine what the AOA will increase to? I would like to create an Excel spreadsheet that has AOAs at 1G in one column, and what the AOAs will increase to in a 2G column, 3G column, 4G column, etc.
Thanks for the help,

RE: F-16C - Pulling High Gs
Although the F-16 is a 9G aircraft up to a certain weight there is a (fairly standard) 150% margin in there so under the same conditions the airframe should be good up to ~13.5G.
I am thinking the only people that know for sure are those that oversaw any test programs……and even then with structural tests they didn’t test it over the margin apparently…so a bit lost as to why they would bother doing such a thing.
I was curious about what KIAS at sea level it would take in order for the F-16 to be able to attain a high G like 12 or 13.

RE: F-16C - Pulling High Gs
So if a pilot was flying a clean F-15A at sea level at 550 KIAS, and he pulled all the way back on the control stick, do you think he could get 14 or 15 Gs at that airspeed?

RE: F-16C - Pulling High Gs
Hi Molnibalage,
I was asking about an instantaneous turn.

F-16C - Pulling High Gs
If the G limiter was turned off, how many Gs max could a clean F-16C pull at 550 knots? Would it be able to pull 13 or 14 Gs?

If a pilot fired the Vulcan cannon for 5 seconds continuously the barrels would not get damaged?

RE: Vulcan Cannon Sounds
How many seconds of continuous fire can the Vulcan cannon take without getting damaged?

RE: John Boyd's Famous Maneuver - "Flat Plating the Bird"
Putting aside Boyd’s maneuver, is there any reason why a fighter pilot would want to exceed his max AOA when pulling Gs?

Vulcan Cannon Sounds
Does anyone have a collection of different Vulcan cannon sounds?
And, what is you favorite Vulcan cannon sound?

RE: Size of an F-16 at 2,500 Feet Distance
Are you building a secret document?
Yes – highly top secret!
No, no, actually I was just curious to know how big the F-16 should look on my monitor – to get it to the real-life size.

RE: Size of an F-16 at 2,500 Feet Distance
I meant if I was flying a real F-16, and had the pipper on an F-16 at 2,500 feet away.

RE: Size of an F-16 at 2,500 Feet Distance
If I had the pipper on an F-16 at 2,500 feet, and took a ruler and measured the wingspan, what would the approximate measurement be? Size of a penny, a dime, a quarter, etc.
