What is the practical use for the vhf/uhf comm switch?
-
Hi all, now that I have been getting used to the ch stick and throttle I have it set up as much like the f16 as possible. One thing I am not clear on is the practical use of the comm switch on the throttle. See page 25 of Bms-dash1.pdf for reference.
I understand and use the left/right functions for IFF out and in but an puzzled by the up and down for VHF and UHF. Is this used in multiplayer for cimmunicating with team mates or something?

Nope, it will be of use for datalink operations.
EDIT : nevermind

Not the UHF/VHF comm switches. Unless I’m missing something?
Toast …. none as far as I know, except for multiplayer. They are IVC ‘push to talk’ keys. However, you DO need UHF and VHF set and on in order to hear AI call and communicate with you AI flight members … at least as far as I understand it.

You are correct. Victor is generally for wing comms whereas Uniform is for tower and package (tactical) comms. Neither of which is applicable unless you are flying multiplayer

UHF/VHF are the puch to talk.
Useful especially in MP or if using Voice Activation Command (or equivalent software)
In solo … why not using it to open the Comm’s windows …

The FBMS radio radio system is (a) genius as a TS SDK derivative and (b) vital and highly flexible online for coordinating multiple flights. A common Guard is also immensely useful.
