negative. When I try to install the older driver I get message stating windows has determined I already have the best driver and rollback driver option is greyed out. Maybe if I could find the new one yet I am unable to open the catalyst control center also. Bogus!

That sucks. Were you signed in as an administrator for the win 10 install? If not the rollback driver option will be greyed out.
You probably were, just checking.
Were you on pro or home?

AMD supports there latest cards only. HD 7 and 8 series, as well as the R series. Older cards are SOL until they release 10 support for older cards.

Hey, Iāve just heard that with windows 10, it limits the upgrades you can do to your PC. For example, if you swap out the hard drive or RAM, this will be deducted from the amount of hardware swaps you can do. You have 3 in total otherwise MS deems your machine as a completely different machine and therefore you need a new copy of the OS.
Anyone else heard this?

Who says that - is that what Microsoft state?

Yes. Once youāve upgraded to Windows 10 using the free upgrade offer, you will be able to reinstall, including a clean install, on the same device. You wonāt need a product key for re-activations on the same hardware. If you make a meaningful change to your hardware, you may need to contact customer support to help with activation. Youāll also be able to create your own installation media like a USB drive or DVD, and use that to upgrade your device or reinstall after youāve upgraded. To learn more,

When I upgrade a preinstalled (OEM) or retail version of Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 license to Windows 10, does that license remain OEM or become a retail license?**
If you upgrade from a OEM or retail version of Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 to the free Windows 10 upgrade this summer, the license is consumed into it. Because the free upgrade is derived from the base qualifying license, Windows 10 will carry that licensing too.
If you upgrade from a retail version, it carries the rights of a retail version.
If you upgrade from a OEM version, it carries the rights of a OEM version.
Full version (Retail):- Includes transfer rights to another computer.
- Doesnāt require a previous qualifying version of Windows.
- Expensive
Upgrade version (Retail): - Includes transfer rights to another computer.
- require a previous qualifying version of Windows.
- Expensive, but cheaper than full version
OEM :
OEM versions of Windows are identical to Full License Retail versions except for the following: - OEM versions do not offer any free Microsoft direct support from Microsoft support personnel
- OEM licenses are tied to the very first computer you install and activate it on
- OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard
- OEM versions cannot be used to directly upgrade from an older Windows operating system
What happens if I change my motherboard?
As it pertains the OEM licenses this will invalidate the Windows 10 upgrade license because it will no longer have a previous based qualifying license which is required for the free upgrade. You will then have to purchase a full retail Windows 10 license. If the base qualifying license (Windows 7 or Windows 8.1) was a full retail version, then yes, you can transfer it.
15. UPGRADES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. Upon upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software you upgraded from. After you upgrade, you may no longer use the software you upgraded from

Ah, thanks MB. I have heard that if you were to completely change your hardware, then you can reinstall win7/8.1 and then go through the whole upgrade to 10, then clean install of 10 again. That will sort it out. What a faff!

Just upgraded from Win7 (64bit) to Win10 Pro. No issues at all (minor error warning from Fraps that Dx9 is not up-to-dateā¦ but Fraps works fine?) ā¦ everything else works like a champ. Love the new front-end on Win 10. BMS works fine no issues at all.

I have been flying my BMS 4.32 update 7 on Windows 10 without a problem since its installation.
The only problem I ran into on day 1 was the NVidia driver 353.30 and 353.62. With those drivers I couldnāt get in to the 3D world. So I uninstalled the NVidia drivers deleted the NVidia folder and rebooted. Windows installed its own driver and I havenāt looked back since.
Same driver issues for me, now on the window driver and works brilliantly. I was unable to launch(from menu) the sim without it crashing. Not looking back now.

I upgraded to 10 on Friday and I get random CTDās during flight. I am enjoying 10, no problems through the upgrade itself, still getting used to it obviously. Not changed any settings, or installed any drivers. I have set the game to run in compatibility modeā¦ Run as XP (SP3), Disable display scaling, Run as admin. What settings work for others?

I had an 8-inch tablet that was running 32-bit Windows 8.1. Notice the past tense. Donāt worry, my tablet is still in one piece. Now, I have a tablet running Windows 10. As far as flying BMS with Cougar is concerned, it works after a bit of fiddling.
Guess whatās the first thing I did after the upgrade? Well, sadly, it wasnāt BMS, itās all those basic stuffs like drivers, a browser, anti virus and MS Office (I mostly use the tablet for work, actually). BMS was, however, the first thing I tried after all those were done.
I did a restore on my win 8.1 first since I ran into some trouble upgrading. The only thing I forgot was to note down what are the config I set in BMS. So I just installed and ran it with stock settings. It ran without crashes, but I crashed my plane (puns intended) since the frame rate is too low. Disabling a few things in the launcher increases the frame rate, though, so I guess Iāll need to find a sweet spot again.
I tried installing Cougar in it after successfully flew around in BMS (not that I would be using the Cougar with my tablet, just want to make sure it can work when the time comes I need to upgrade my gaming rig). I ran into a bit of problem here. I tried to install the 2007 vista driver but the drivers for āThrustmaster HOTAS Cougar (IN)ā and āThrustmaster HOTAS Cougar (OUT)ā kind of failed to install. In the end, I have to install TARGET first, and then install the 2007 Vista driver in order for them to work correctly. After that, I can uninstall TARGET and it still works (I have not used TARGET before, and I donāt want to redo all the configurationsā¦)
My tablet is almost out of battery now, so I canāt test TrackIR. Like most smartphones, the tablet has one USB port for connections or charging I canāt actually do both at the same time, not without rigging some adaptor myself. Thatās what Iāll do tomorrow. But all in all, Iād say Windows 10 is quite convenient, and is very similar to Mac OS X now (I guess thatās why they skip Windows 9ā¦ ).
EDIT:
I tested TrackIR this morning, it works as well. So I would say that BMS experience in Windows 10 is whole. -
Upgraded a test laptop to Win10 So far I have the following working:
Cougar HOTAS
Tusba Throttle
Saitek combat rudders
TM Cougar MFDs
Track IR (running 5.2.2)
Touchdown webservice software (ICP)So all the peripherals work, now to test 4.32.

The million Question: If Windows 8.1 has worked with me like a champ, do you suppose that Windows 10 will do the same ??

With Microsoft you never know. Itās still a mistery to me why every damn version they manage to break most of the device drivers. Since they announced this is the last version of Windows my guess is this will stop or your devices will just randomly stop working after any windows update. Debriefings like the one below might be the future.
