Tom,
Hi! Thanks for your Korea map update. I have some requests for your new Korea skin.
I found out some error on your former Korea skin. Korea 2015 final version.
I found out incorrect map near Kimpo Airport. I caputered nort east Seoul, near Kimpo Airport.
Would you take a look at blue circled area on attachment? The Han River is connected with Imjin River.
Over Imjin River is North Korea. But Han River is disconnected on your previous 2015 Korea map.
Is that possible to connect them on your new Korea skin?
Is that possible to add a city like the one on yellow circle one? The area is full of mountains and tress on your Korea2015 final skin.
Google Earth will give you more detailed idea what it’s like.
Thanks in advance. -
Hi,
yes- thats possible. I used the stock Korea coasts and didnt changed any coastline. But I could make an update- I should because there is a small Problem with Seosan and an Airstrip.
However- To use GoogleEarth for a map is a bit critical. The original Map is over 14 years old but Google is showing the present Status. So for examble- If you take a small look over Wonsan Airbase you will see….
Pyönyang Airfield is still under construction. Osan Airbase is having a second runway now and Kunsan is betted into a large ship Yard. The keypoint is- The original Korea is changing rapidly and it’s hard to follow every new Highway, coastline, Airfield and so on. But- some Special things I can do- just like that.
Cheers

Tom, tried your reloaded beta last night, looks great! I had been getting jealous of DCS, seeing all the lovely terrain, but these new tiles provide a nice face lift to our old friend, many thanks for providing these

Is there a frame rate loss associated with this mod? My system isn’t quite the most stout. I tend to get 49-50 FPS on the ground and about 60 in the air.

No- my System (dont laughing please)
Dual Core i3 2.8GHz
1GB Grafig RAM
4 RAMIf it works on my system- it will work on every system…
Cheers

TomI’ve got…
Intel Core 2 Duo E7500/2.93GHz
2 GB Nvidia GT 750 TI
4 GB Ramw/ Windows 10
I’d imagine I have a bit less in comparison to the i3.

Hey there Tomcatz, are you planning to work more on these “reloaded” tiles?
I’ve been flying for a while with them and I can give you some feedback for future improvements. -
we appreciate your hard work
-
Does it work with 4.33?
-
Did you check 4.33’s default by Polak? It is superbly crafted to align with forest sections.
And TBH it looks way better than anything I ever saw in Falcon since ca. 2003…;)
No disrespect, I also love TomCatz’s terrain. -
Tom’s work is really amazing, but IMHO still need some work.
The main problem for me is lacking of variety. The green plains, city tiles and mountains look superb, but we are missing some other terrain type, like farms, mud, swamps, different type of mauntains, etc. Maybe Tomkatz can use some tiles of his previous versions and combine them.
The night tiles are way, too bright and ruin the immersion. The water also looks a bit weird.
Hope he has time to finish his work, these tiles have a lot of potential. -
I
m not sure. I
m very happy with Polaks work in 4.33. The airbases, the Citys textures- All Looks well and smooth. So I think, it is not necesary to rebuild Toms Korea for Falcon 4.33 because the look is very fine yet. A bit similar to my tiles I think. I like the Style of Polaks art.
I do not like some of the 4.33 3d models (just like russian jets/ Transporters) , some Cockpit textures but the terrain Looks fine to me.
So there should be no reason to push Toms Korea into 4.33.Cheers

Hi Tom, as you know I loved your 4.32 terrain work. And I am sure tons of work went into it.
The main thing I noticed when using older theatres with 4.33 is, the tree areas have to be aligned texture wise, otherwise you see e.g. airbases covered in trees or blocky rectangular tree parts.
Yet your terrain also uses smooth texture transitions btw.
Assume a lot of work went into this as well, and it looks great, that was why I mean it is the best thing I saw in Falcon since ca 2003, a new look.Greets
Thorst.

+1.
No offence to anyone, especially all of those are not present in this thread, but told it in short I hope that Tom Catz’s terrains will be uesable, soon if not since now, also in 4.33, even upgraded with those refinements announced before.
The reasons of that have been eplained above ways better that I’d ever be able to on my own.Just my own end user’s cent.
Thanks for your attention and with my best regards.

Tom. How can i use your Cockpit textures? They are Vetter than stock 4.33 IMO
