Geforce GTX 980 or 980Ti for the Future?

Hi Gent´s
for me it´s Time for a New Graphic Gard:( my favorite is MSI GTX 980Ti 6GCurrently in use is a Zotac 550Ti (1G) it is not longer useful for BMS.
Extracting MFD´s and in Future RWR an PFL via BMS for my PITWhat your Favorites?

The 980 Ti is a beast. If money is no object go for it! Just don’t forget about your CPU. My system runs good with a i7 4770k overclocked to 4.3GHz running a GTX 770. Seeing 90% utilization max on all 4 cores, with 75% max GPU utilization. Seems pretty balanced, and getting 40 to 70 fps running most eye candy at 3840 x 1024 (3 monitors at 1280 x 1024 each). So if you go the 980 Ti route you have pretty much the best card available (very close to Titan). Just make sure your CPU is awesome and you are golden.

I have 980ti and it is a beast. 6gb is better for 4K or possible VR.

For me is the point, Extraction options in BMS for my Pitproject and a bit more Eye Candy´s and Performance
the Extraction Tool costs al lot of FPS 30-40 by my currently system. My system is only for BMS nothing other.
My System
- i7 K
- 8G Ram
- 128 Samsung SSD
- Asus Motherboard

Don’t ask us. Ask your pocket.

Heh yeap if you can afford to go there the 980Ti is the way to go hands down.

I own the MSI 980ti and run BMS with DSR at 3840x2400 and 60fps in the campaign.
Simply gorgeous. -
Post the rest of your PC specs as well please.
Post framerate (in Red Dog’s AGM-65 training mission or Campaign) with TGP and WPN page in MFDs and displaying video on both as well please. That should be a good indicator of how good the 980Ti is in BMS 4.33 for anyone thinking of getting one.

I’m currently running a GTX780 but I’m waiting for Pascal which I suspect is sometime next year. It’s supposed to be a 10X improvement over the current gen Maxwell cards. We will see

Specs are:
Intel i7-4770 @ 3,5GHz
16GB RAM
Win 8.1, driver 356.04Run the AGM-65 mission from the training and get (with TGP and WPN on):
@3840x2400 45fps
@1920x1200 52fps
both with 4xAA and 16xAF -

In Red Dog’s AGM-65 training mission I get 80+ fps under those conditions with all BMS graphics options maxed out 2560 x 1600 resolution.
120+ with the WPN and TGP off. So a loss of 40 fps. What does this indicate?i7 3930k @ 4.5 ghz 32 Gb Ram gtx 980ti

stop messing about - go TITAN !!!

It indicates you’re running with an NVIDIA card. I lose 1-2 fps when I used BMS extraction with my significantly cheaper and alas somewhat slower AMD card
Once everyone has got to grips with the new software though it would be better to set up some more objective benchmarks to give people a better idea of how different hardware/software combinations perform. We have done some of this testing though (which is why I can be confident of my first sentence) and the problem is that there are so many different hardware/software/peripheral combinations that even that is not definitive in Falconland.
The fact remains however that people are asking these questions about potential upgrades, so the more information based on evidence (flawed and incomplete though it may be) we can point them to the more confident they can be before they pull the trigger on expensive new purchases.
Ironman, why would anyone pay extra for a TITAN X over a 980Ti if they’re using it primarily for gaming? Greater overclocking headroom of a Ti more than makes up for the extra 6GB of VRAM (that isn’t used by any game currently in existence at even UHD resolutions), or the tiny reduction in shader processors (2 SMMs). Of course the higher clockspeeds are a result of the increased power and thermal headroom the GTX 980 Ti gets from halving the number of VRAM chips along with disabling the 2 SMMs. Without these components consuming power or generating heat, and the TDP staying at 250W, the 980 Ti can trade its power savings to boost a bit higher.

BlueProbably get the GTX 980 Ti, you still can put them in SLI
BTW, i’ve ordered the MSI GTX 980 Ti, if you want some more details like FPS with BMS, you can contact me

I’m struggling with frame rates, so i’ll jump in here and hope for some help from others. I recently built a computer that i expected to completely SLAY FBMS.
i7-5820K @ 4.5
16 GB RAM @ 2800
BMS on an SSD
Sapphire 390x 8 GB
XFX 5450 (for my 2 external TFTs)
BMS display extraction on for MFDs only
Sim in windowed mode
EDIT: main screen 2560x1440, TFTs are at 800x600 each. With all shaders on, i was getting 17 FPS in the maverick TE – which is obviously a huge disappointment and doesn’t seem appropriate for these specs.
I’ve had to turn off all the eye-candy to get it running at 40 FPS. I tried turning off display extraction (thinking that maybe the 5450 was the problem, even if only driving the 2D screens), but i didn’t see much of a change.
Any ideas as to what is bottle-necking my performance?

Don’t you need a 4gb-6gb GPU to run extracted MFDs and TFTs (980 ti)? I read that somewhere recently, can’t remember where though.
Good day,

Sadly for me the 980Ti wasn’t out when I bought my Titan X SLI setup. Unless there is a very specific reason for you to want 12 gigs of VRAM versus the 6 of the 980Ti their performance is almost identical yet their prices tags aren’t even close. Titan X is really e-peen between the two at this point. Even as a Titan X owner I cannot give them the nod over a 980Ti when you look at the cost differential.

Ok I am not sure if the AGM-65 TE in default 4.33 is Red Dog’s or not but I ran that one and with all up and running (the TE had inclement weather as another test of the system to boot) I was getting 38/50 FPS. All of my eye candy is turned on, trees and grass sliders full right, I toned down the NVidia CP settings to 8x AF and 4x AA. This is running windowed triple screen 6010x1080 with server/client mode MFDE handling the display extraction work. System specs are in my sig.

Hi,
i ordered this: ASUS STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5, GeForce GTX 970, 4GB GDDR5
Report follows:D -
any possibilities of SLI with your motherboard? I have the 980 TI, but two 980’s cost a tad more then 1 980 Ti… and you will have even more Graphic processing power for this application, as well as many many others. Just an idea…
