Keyfiles - again!

I’m using a BMS 4.32 keyfile (I know…)
Can someone try and explain in King’s English how (and whether) I can go about using the following commands:
- cockpit spotlight (Edit: have now found this in my old keyfile)
- fold wings
- thrust reverser
Is there a clickable cockpit switch for these actions? Or is it impossible to have these functions unless you use a BMS 4.33 keyfile or parts thereof?
(I hope it doesn’t mean trying to use the Key File Editor. I’ve tried reading the BMS Key File editor documentation, but to be honest, if the author thought they were explaining things in a way that would help a newbie understand what to actually do with the tool, then I would discourage them from ever starting a career as a teacher! All respect however for the amount of work that must have gone into this.)

Hi chris.
I am really sorry that you don’t understand my manual.
You must know: English is not my native language. Thats the reason I always try to explain things very basic…If you don’t understand this, your’re screwed… :wfish:

[Pumpy clears throat]eh em.
Hello good sir.
Perchance you should trifle to cozy up to the copious manuals located in the documents’ folder.
Perhaps a hearty breakfast of bangers and mash would be desirable before attempting such a feat.Regards. Pip, pip and cheerio, ol’ chap!

You found the cockpit spotlight in your old keyfile…?
Your old, 4.32 keyfile??

Lol. If only you guys knew, and Chris bless his heart would never tell. Thanks Tiffy for your help.

HOTAS functionality or pit-building functionality? DX’ing my X52 is a royal pain in the ass and importing keyfiles doesn’t seem to work with the Keyfile Editor on Open Office, so I used my 4.32 keyfile and haven’t had to do anything other than fix a couple of changed keys.
-
Depending on which 4.32 keyfile you used, quite a lot of HOTAS functionality.
If you set it up properly back in 32 then there is minimal changes needed.

Ok then. Be prepared not to be able to do stuff, because HOTAS functionality will be lost.

My question is: What functionality? If you don’t have a specific answer then there’s no point in giving an answer at all, especially a half-assed one like that. “Stuff” isn’t helpful in the slightest.

As far as I know, yes, I set it up “correctly.” I should note that I didn’t import the keyfile entirely, but instead copy/pasted the DX HOTAS assignments into the already existing 4.33 keyfile. So far I have only run into three issues: clutch button not working (probably SST software issue), speed brakes open/close key assignments changed between 4.32 and 4.33 (easy fix), and trim reset toggling the AAR door (another easy fix).
-
well, copy pasting the DX assignments, then going through them individually looking for changed callbacks with reference to the manual so generously provided for that specific purpose, is what I did. Took the blank keyfile included in the install and copied my DX assignments into it.
I had to disable my shift button through the bms cfg to get it to work as well.
The speed brakes directX has not changed. If you set it up with directX that should not have needed changing.
When I say depending on keyfile, its because the default keyfile in BMS that so many used, used old and dated callbacks, a number of which are no longer working in 4.33 - and if your DX assignments included those, then they plain wont work. If you used a nonstandard keyfile such as those developed by Kolbe (and which are now default in 4.33), then you wont have to worry about that.
-
I use the precision slider for the speedbrakes so DX won’t work there–I have to use the SST program for that. HOTAS-only functions (as in what’s in the real Viper) haven’t changed from 4.32 to 4.33 have they? I just went though the -1 and assigned HOTAS functions to the X52 as close to real-life placement as I could.

For someone who wants help you are quite rude. There are keystrokes you won’t even have as they have been changed completely and /or renamed. As for the functionality….figure it out for yourself wise guy.
-
I never asked for help. I asked what functions would be lost. You shot your mouth off without providing a relevant answer. You’re wasting everyone’s time with ambiguous uninformative posts.
-
Asking for info is asking for help. Figure it out for yourself.
-
Your first response essentially said “figure it out for yourself” so why are you continuing to waste your breath? FFS people in the sim community drive me insane sometimes. If you don’t want to give info then don’t waste everyone’s time with a useless post.

If you used the HOTAS commands then you will be fine. Its the arcade style callbacks that are in danger, like cycling through AA/AG weapons for instance.
