Massive sudden drop of framerate
-
I’ve recently performed a complete clean install of my system. It worked okay after that. Did some multiplayer mission with someone. Worked fine for a while, until it crashed. Now BMS won’t start (CTD on startup) .
I’m giving up. Might be hardware related after all… I’m going to save up for a few months and upgrade my system… :<

I experince the same problem since 4.33 installation. However, it seems it depends on capaign/theatre (how many units in the air and on the ground) and probably hard disc access. Disc not swapping (16GB RAM total, 9GB RAM free). Processor (Intel quad core 3.1 GHz) working on 70 - 80% power, but during stutters it peaks up to 100%. Stutter lasts from 1 - 3 seconds and FPS drop to unbearable 2 - 6 FPS.
-
16 GB of ram and only 9 GB free? What’s the other 7 GB being used for?
-
Aaaand it’s working again… Upgraded to Windows 10, BMS still did not run (CTD). Reinstalled BMS and now it’s working fine o_0 (for the moment )
I’ll let you guys know if it fails again ^^

I have just ordered me a X55 :).
Only thing I am gutted about is the performance :(.
My rig aint the issue but I have tweaked the hell out of BMS and get about 50FPS in the air on the ground I get about 30 but when I enable the tgp on the ground I get 20
The tgp is a killer man

I got the same sudden FPS drop the OP wrote about.
Very odd. I already flew several times with my new rig (which I’ve bought because the previous one was not good at running the new 4.33 with decent fps). Very pleasant : nice fps, everything went smoothly. And then during a campaign mission the fps suddenly dropped to the teens. I flew away from the FLOT, but it improved fps only very marginally (to 20/25 at best). I also paused the game, but to no results. Very odd.

Same here. Double Alt+Tab is the solution for the time being.
I missed that thread here, seems I didn’t look back far enough in time.
System:
AMD Athlon X4 760K @3.8Ghz
8Gb RAM
Samsung 840 evo SSD
AMD Radeon R9 270X OC with 2Gb DDR5
Win 7 Home PremiumI am now pretty sure the GPU is causing the issue because the CPU load does not change with ALT-TAB but the GPU will enter the “2D- Mode” without acceleration and back into the sim it starts in “3D- Mode” again with a higher clock than it uses on the desktop.
Anything I can contribute to the solution of this?Maybe the -mono log helps…
It happened about the time when our flight dropped the first LGB, search for the string “Paveway”.
Interesting thing is shortly after that:
ERROR: PrepareSectorsForRendering(view 1): Sector 23 39 ref 0 not loaded!
ERROR: PrepareSectorsForRendering(view 1): Sector 24 39 ref 0 not loaded!
ERROR: PrepareSectorsForRendering(view 1): Sector 25 39 ref 0 not loaded!

Monoprint are useful only for the coder who put it in there, thus dont mind the word choice too much
But it sure is unusual.
-
These monoprints means that a terrain sector failed to load (From file), if it’s just a temporary message and you saw terrain OK in 3D world, then maybe just some glitch in your system.
Sudden drastic FPS drops might be your V-Card started swapping memory (As VRAM became full) and that is known to be a VERY slow operation (GPUs are not optimized to read back memory from the system).
-
Terrain was OK all the way.
It was not drastic but decreased slowly more and more. But I think it’s the right direction since VRAM clears once you leave the 3D and go back to desktop so VRAM is empty again when pressing ALT-TAB back into the sim again.
I just do not have any solution for it -
One more thing: I always have an Open Broadcast Service (OBS) Session open in the background. I started recording which records to my HDD (BMS is on the SSD) and I had no FPS drop at all which means the CPU isn’t the problem.
I disabled the HiRes Textures and we’ll try again. I think the VRAM thing might be the solution.
Thanks for the help so far!

If I could help I saw that fps drop(in 3d) when a pop up like 1st lieutnant appear at the end of the mission…don’t know why ,in 4.32 my fps drop(in 3d) when there is a message from the intell(with movie) at the end of mission.
After it works ok.And when it appear after 10 mission the fps drop again.
