F-16 FLCS + TQS
-
Hello Blue Storm
In response to your question:
Would you or anyone else know also where I could lay my hand on one of the EPROM that Thrustmaster made for the 1st gen F-16 FLCS so they coud handle the TQS ?
Even Bob Church, the guy that developed the older FLCS/TQS upgrade chips recommends that the best solution is a newer HOTAS setup whether that be TM or any other setup (other HOTAS products are available

I don’t know it’s work or not with the F 16 FLCS+TQS but if someone can soldering and re-wire those , then it would be good.
If someone has information more this panel , there interested in me too.

The rockfire adapter works great with my FLCS/TQS. Also works with Suncom Talon/SFS . Im currently trying to program the FLCS/TQS. Think i need to boot in to DOS to do this.

Here is a site about using old Thrustmaster gameport joysticks on modern computers.

Good to hear. Thanks. I’m still waiting to receive mine. I’ve been searching other Forms and finding nothing about this. In 15 years since the switch to USB Thrustmaster should have developed a converter. 20 years ago there were dedicated IDE cards you could run a entire Falcon 3 or 4 cockpit with. Talk about dropping the ball, poor build quality and profiteering. Unbelievable. Everyone knew USB was coming and being implemented in 1996. It won’t be long before we can design, print out the parts and build our own computer peripherals.

I made a an mistake replying to Jetlag in the way that I did and have deleted it. See Jetlag and my replies for further details.

Very impressive. Thank you very much.

I just got my stick and throttle working now. I have my usb adapter set to mode 2. I made a usb stick dos bootable and was able to run the thrustmaster software that loads the joystick. I currently got all buttons working on both the flcs and tqs. The radar elevation and rangeknobs dont work yet, but i think thats a matter of programming. Now i only have to change the button asignements to fit the 4.33 keyboard layout. Good luck and let me know how it works out for you.

That is a very nice reply to my now known to be misdirected statement. I apologize for directing that statement at you and will delete it. Thank you for going as far out of your way as you have to further and most thoroughly clarify your stance.

Thanks RegNullifier you are a gent - I will also delete my last reply to you so that we do not have any public trace remaining
Edit: Done!

Hi all,
I still own ThrustMaster F-16 TQS + FLSC but with Bob Church’s new chips inside.
Will that work with Rockfire RM-203 ?
Thanks for info in advance!

Don’t hold me to it but I believe it does (unless the Bob Church mod needed something other than the usual Games Port). You use it on setting 1. For around €15 it’s got to be worth a try.

Hi all,
Will do - thanks for replaying!

How is it working now (after few weeks)?
Any experience to share?

Hi Leo. Well it works ok. Sometimes i need to unplug the adapter and the keyboard to get the buttons to work. I got the rangekob working but the antenna knob is dead. I think the pot is bad. Planning to disasemble the throttle to see if i can fix it.I also have to recenter the joystick in bms settings every time i start the program .Other than that i am verry happy with my setup. To use these old joysticks is not as straight forwad as plugging in a more modern joystick, but if you like me like maximum bang for the buck then its absolutley worth it. I also has the suncom talon and sfs throttle. They also work 100% with the same adapter. I can combine the flcs joystick with the sfs throttle! A por mans hotas warthog. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions .

Nice to hear that the adapter works, since I also have a set of TQS + FLSC gathering dust for years.

Just remember that your motherboard has to have a ps/2 input for the keyboard to be able to program the FLCS-TQS. It wont work with a ps/2 usb adapter. The program sends the keyboard commands through the ps/2 port . When it is programmed you can use a usb adapter.
Here is a good site for old gameport joystick projects. http://www.warrenernst.com/thrustmaster
Here is a link where you can download fox two for the old FLCS-TQS. A lot easier to program in windows instead of DOS. -
Sorry. Here is the link for foxtwo.
